Chapter 0:where it had all started
HI! This is my third time publishing a book and the other two was scrap ideas that I erased because I didn’t think they were going anywhere so this is my third attempt I hope you enjoy it:)
Victor once again woke up from his nightmare , sweat drenching from his face. He removed the blanket from his body and sat up straight on his bed. He covered his face with his hands trying to clear up his mind.
Then a soft , gentle voice called to him half awake ” Victor , what are you doing ? It is five in the morning. ” The voice sat up straight beside him putting her hand on his “Is there something bothering you dear? Is it that thing again dear?” The voice of Lily-his wife talked once again.
“I know that you want a kid more than you could” he said his voice trembling . After a long pause he said ” but like we’ve discussed before. We can’t have kids. I also want a kid desperately just like you do” then again a long pause occurred ” I am so sorry , dear. For not being able to have a kid”
Lily didn’t shame him , nor hate him , nor stopped him mid sentence ” I understand , my black rose tea. You don’t have to be ashamed nor be sorry for being an infertile. ” She then also paused for a while looked over at all the medical pills on the counter ” We have been trying for 6 years now , haven’t we?” She smiled but the smile wasn’t out of happiness , it was out of heartbreak as she had longed for a kid. She looked at right at his eyes having eye contact while she said ” Maybe we could try adopting? It can be worth a try , right ?”
Victor cut off the eye contact by looking at the ground “With mine and your family records?” He scoffed “We both know that when they find out we are actually the heir and heiress of two strong mafia families, not only will they put us on blacklist , they might even send undercover cops to our families as now they know our location!” He said desperation in his eyes growing ” And we both know for a fact that if we don’t have any kid related announcements both of us will live hell”
Lily paused for a moment calculating the outcome of their actions ” I was actually going to save it as a last resort but my aunt once said that she knows someone who could help us if we get too desperate.” She said with determination in her eyes this time ” Maybe if we reach out to her she can arrange a meeting.”
Victor nodded agreeing to whatever it took for them to not live in the constant patrol or fear from their families ” OK I agree can you call her right now? Let’s go and get ready”
As he was about to get up from the bed Lily took his hand and giggled a bit “It’s five in the morning , my black rose. Let’s discuss it tomorrow.”

They arrive at the location that Lily’s aunt had sent them and told them that she would keep it a secret from the family as she would not want to cause them trouble. They entered the mansion it was old and rusty. There were spiders and cobwebs around and books that maybe older than their elders in the family.
Lily held herself around Victor’s arm tight as this place was giving her memories from her past. She was feeling nauseous and wanted to was thinking of leaving. It was too dark and even if she was 26 years old she was still sleeping with a light lamp and this place felt like a punch to the stomach.
" Are you OK there , Pumpkin?” Victor asked . He was concerned about his partner’s well being and didn’t wanted to drag her into a place she wasn’t comfortable at.
Lily shook her head and said “No. This is our last chance.” She said once again determination in her eyes “We can’t go back now. Aunt Linda told me that she will arrive in five to ten minutes and-” She stopped and noticed a room with light. “Let’s go there , my Black rose tea.” She said with a smile on her face.
“Right behind you , Pumpkin” Victor said opening the door for her just like the gentlemen he is.
When they both entered the room they saw a ritual ring in the middle of the room which felt like something that came out from a horror movie. This made both of them tense up and wondered if this was all some kind of a big joke they were taking a part in.
Just then a woman probably in her mid 40’s came out from another room at the back she looked up and down to them and asked “Did you bring it?”
The couple looked at each other confused. Victor asked ” I am sorry did we had to bring something?”
The woman sighed and asked directly to Lily ” Wheres Linda? We should be finished in 30 minutes or all of my efforts will go down the drain and it will cost both of you more money”
Lily and Victor decided to not question it as they got no idea what she was talking about. Lily said ” Aunt Linda said she will be here in five to ten minut-”
Just as she was about to finish her sentence Aunt Linda came inside with a huge trash she was dragging. She dragged the trash bag to the center of the room and wiped her sweat with the back of her hand and asked ” Alright I got the stuff is there anything else left to do?”
The woman shook her head and said ” We shall get started before the corps starts to rot or something else occurs.” The woman started to unwrap the trash bag and there inside was the grandpa of Lily.
Lily screamed in terror and tears started to stream down her face as she held tight on the body of Victor not even looking at the dead body while Victor held her tight.
Victor screamed at them ” What the hell is the meaning of this?! What kind of a sick game are you intending to do?!”
The woman sighed heavily and said ” Look , you are here because you want a kid , right? ”
Aunt Linda then said ” Don’t worry ,kids.” She said with a not concerned voice ” Me and Valerie have done this countless times. Also the good thing is that you don’t have to pay for the assassination fee.” She looked over to the body of her father laying lifeless ” I always hated that guy anyway”
The woman as now we know her name Valerie looked at the clock and said ” We don’t have much time left.’’ She looked over at the couple and said ” Give me a strand of hair , both of you.”
The couple looked at each other once again. It was their way of communicating on hard times. A connection they would describe. They nodded while looking at each other and both of them took out a strand of hair and gave it to Valerie.
Valerie took the hairs and placed them in the ring. Then she dragged a porcelain doll that looked like a toddler human and had ginger hair like Lily. Valerie told everyone to stay away from the ring and prepared the porcelain doll by giving her a white dress and placed a fake porcelain heart inside.
As the others watched away from afar , Valerie took out an ancient spell book and started to read a spell loudly which made the Lily and Victor shiver in fear as they held from each other tightly .
Then from the corpse of Lily’s grandpa a small light emerged from his heart and got burned into ashes in seconds. Then a second light emerged and and went into the doll’s body and the doll opened her eyes looking more like a human and sat up straight and looked over around confused.
As the couple watched in shock Valerie helped the doll stand up and said ” Meet your daughter Penelope”
