Ravina Harrisonová žije v zajetí nočních můr již od malička. Považuje je však za neškodné. Tedy alespoň do chvíle, co se sen stane skutečností. Montoca je městem mrazivého ticha a když okolím otřese zpráva, že zdejší student střední školy byl nalezen mrtvý, na povrch začínají vyplouvat věci, které nedávají smysl. Co víc, Ravina má pocit, že nejspíš ví, kdo je vrahem. O to horší pro ni je, že k němu v mnoha ohledech cítí slabost.
