Report

Many eons ago, the supreme god of the higher world, Xanlos, created a legion of angels to craft the perfect lower world he envisioned for himself. Once his world was made, he assigned specific duties to his angels, making them lesser gods with duties. One of those angels was Zadione, the god of chaos, and Phopasis, the god of tranquility. For one hundred thousand years, they maintained the balance throughout a portion of the lower world, but Zadione became overzealous with her power. She sought to take over Phopasis's position to become the sole ruler of the hearts and minds of all the races who inhabit the world.

On one particular day, Xalous called all his lesser gods to report the work they had done. Zadione tried to persuade him to give Phopasis's role to her, but Zadione's request was denied with a sincere glance. The next day, Zadione and Phopasis were assigned to create a scenario in which certain evil generals of the Kromagian Kingdom, a nation dear to him, would die at the hands of an invading force. In contrast, the nation's innocent people would survive. Zadione went overboard with her power, making the invaders kill innocent men, women, and children. Once Phopasis saw the problem, she reacted too late to stop the bloodshed.

When they reported their work to Xanlos, he became furious at both of them. Zadione tried to pin the failure mostly on Phopasis, but they both ended up losing their roles. In a fury of rage, Zadione attempted to assault him. She was smitten out of the higher realm by his guards all the way down to the lower world. He gave her a punishment: to live like a human woman and die as one by any cause.

Some myths and legends say that she made several attempts to return home using human and elven magic, but each attempt failed. Each effort made her insane with anger. When she was wandering the desert wilderness south of Kromagia, she cried with a loud voice to the higher realm, declaring she would return with a mighty legion of her own to overthrow Xanlous's throne and his loyal angels. Some say her words echoed as far as the tip of the Inaubira continent.

It had been hundreds of years since Zadione made her declaration. In the year 1337, strange and sinister, unexplainable deaths had occurred throughout the kingdoms. Some people believed it to be the work of deranged psychopaths, while others believed it to be her.

Haleema Northana, beginning of the year, 1337
