Chapter 2 : the mysterious girl
The storm continues. Rain pours heavily, lightning flashes across the sky. You, Suhani, are sitting on the bench, your clothes soaked, flute in hand, playing a soft, haunting melody. AaravSena — Aarav, Anaya, GOLI, GOGI, and PINKU — approach carefully under their umbrella, intrigued by your music.
Aarav
(calling softly, trying not to startle you)
Hello! Are you… okay? Why are you sitting out here in this rain?
You pause briefly, looking up at them. Your eyes glint in the lamplight. You cough lightly, wrapping your shawl tighter.
SUHANI
(firmly, yet calm)
Stay under your umbrella. Don’t come any closer.
Anaya
(whispering to Aarav, concerned)
She… she looks really cold. Maybe we should help her?
SUHANI
(without looking at them, voice quiet but sharp)
I said… stay there.
GOLI tilts his head, curious but cautious.
GOLI
She… she’s not like anyone we’ve met before.
PINKU
(softly, excited)
She’s playing the flute… in this storm! How… how can someone be so calm?
You begin playing again, your music rising above the sound of the rain. The melody is beautiful, haunting, and almost magical. The boys freeze, listening, captivated by your presence, but unsure how to respond.
GOGI
(whispering to Aarav)
Should we… maybe just leave her alone? She seems… mysterious.
Aarav
(quietly, conflicted)
No… I want to know who she is… but… she doesn’t want anyone close.
You continue to play, keeping your gaze on the empty street ahead. The boys stand at a distance, watching silently under the umbrella, respecting your warning but unable to tear their eyes away from your music.
SUHANI
(softly, almost to herself)
Some things… are meant to be seen from afar.
