Chapter 1
I was sitting on a log, watching the sparks fly off the fire when I spoke.
"My mother and father are—or, I guess I should say were—scientists. They never knew when to back down from a challenge. They never backed down. But now… now they're in deep trouble because of their mistakes and actions. It's my job to clean up their mess… or is it?"
I laugh and look up at the man across from me.
"Honestly, I'm not sure if I should. The world has already turned to shit, and there's nothing we can do about it."
The man has dark red hair and a scar down his left eye. He's tall and muscular, with mismatched skin. His eyes are a deep blue and a deep green.
"Unfortunately, I do believe it's your duty to help. Just look at the world outside," he says in a deep voice while he gestures toward the window. "If you have the power to fix this, then let's fix it. We need it to be fixed."
Suddenly, a loud bang rings out.
"Fuck— we need to find a different spot before they come," he says, grabbing me and running off, pulling me along.
