Prologue

Veera Rudhran—my trainee—was capable of many things… like Trespassing, Simple Assaulting, ohh that's include Killing a man too...I am not surprised, When I got the call, she was arrested for attempt murder.
She had chaotic instincts. She always had.
What shook me was the sight in front of me—one that told an entirely different story.
She sat in a chair, barely holding herself together. Her hair was a wreck—tangled, abandoned. Her clothes were streaked with dried blood, dark and torn apart. Her foot bore dry scratches. Abrasions. The kind you get when bare skin is dragged across asphalt.
How did the police miss this?
How did they choose not to see it?
This wasn’t attempted murder.
This was attempted sexual violation—on her.
I moved toward her slowly. Her chin lifted a fraction. Her eyes dragged over me—not recognition, not relief—just calculation.
Am I a threat or not?
My gaze caught the bruise on her neck.
A bite mark, Deep. Red. Cruel.
I reached out—only two fingers—toward it.
She recoiled. Not a flinch. Not a breath hitch. A full recoil.
Her survival instinct made me look like just another man trying to claim what didn’t belong to me.
I pulled my hand back. I don’t know anymore what I’m doing with her. I swore I would never swoon over a woman the way my father did. Never bend. Never ache.
Yet here I was—aching—wanting to console the very woman who defied me at every chance she got.
“I didn’t rip my shirt,” she pleaded softly. “He did. And they didn’t even listen.”
I would face anything just to see her smile again. Just to hear her sharp, infuriating wit.
“I want this to disappear,” she whispered. “I’ll do anything. Can you bury this? If it comes out… I’ll never be able to wear the prosecutor’s robe.”
Whoever he was, I was going to destroy him...show him death is better than living.
He didn’t just scare her. He didn’t just touch her. He showed her something—something I had never intended her to experience and that—That was his last mistake.
Her fingers slipped from my shirt.
I stared at her, realizing I wanted to fulfill her words like a verdict. She met my eyes—fragile, trembling.
“Marry me,” she mumbled...
