Microrelato

Camino lejos de ellos. Aquellos que alguna vez estuvieron llenos de vida ahora transitan a paso torpe. Se mueven ciegamente a través de las calles. Su apariencia degradada, sin vida, dejando rastros de muerte, guiándose por un único motivo: obtener alimento.

Las multitudes me aterran, debo correr entre ellos evitando quedar aplastado por su presencia. A veces se me acercan, me escondo y huyo. No quiero que me toquen, no quiero escuchar los quejidos que aparentan ser palabras, no quiero que me infecten.

¿Cómo llegaron a ese estado? ¿Por qué nadie los ayudó?

La vida pasa fugaz mientras los observo de lejos. Siempre en multitud, buscando convertir a los sanos. Sus rostros demacrados, la piel estirándose con el tiempo, los ojos vacíos y sin vida, recorriendo cada calle de la ciudad.

Su vida fue absorbida, carente de sentido.

He formado un grupo de supervivencia, compartimos experiencias y secretos para evitar volvernos como ellos.

La comida no es suficiente, la casa se derrumba, es inevitable, debemos infiltrarnos entre ellos. Necesitamos abasto, será temporal, solo hasta encontrar algo diferente.

He pasado mucho tiempo aquí, la infiltración fue exitosa pero siento mi cuerpo enfermar. Es imposible. Doy por hecho que es mi imaginación, no estoy contaminado, no puede ser. Nadie me ha mordido.

Voy entre la multitud y de pronto choco con una niña. Estiro mi brazo para ayudarla pero ella me mira con lástima. Sus ojos brillan con curiosidad, acepta mi fría y agrietada mano y se pone de pie. Entonces me pregunta:

—Señor, ¿cuándo dejó de estar vivo?

Entonces lo entiendo. No hay infección. No hay mordida. Nunca lo hubo.

El virus es la costumbre.

El contagio fue crecer.
