Summary

(Made this out of boredom, spare me.) For twenty years, Zander has been a stranger to his own mind. Haunted by fractured memories he cannot explain, he finally returns to the one place that holds the truth... the parish where his story began. As he steps back into the shadows of his past, the clock turns back two decades. He remembers the man he used to be and the unlikely bond he formed with a person he well known... a criminal. Together, they were bound by an unbreakable promise and a secret that defied nature. The criminal led him to a place that was never meant to be discovered: a terrifying, bottomless rift they named... The Twilight Zone. Deep within this abyss, the rules of the world are forgotten. It is said that the darkness can grant a person’s deepest wish, but it never gives without taking. Every miracle requires a sacrifice, and every memory reclaimed comes with a devastating cost. This is not just a hole in the earth, it is a tear in reality where lost things gather. As the man of God and the man of sin descend into the dark, they discover that the abyss offers a terrifying prize: the power to grant a single wish. But in the Twilight Zone, every miracle has a price. What did they find at the bottom of that void twenty years ago? And as the priest finally remembers the price he paid, will he realize that some memories are better left in the dark?

Prologue

Remember our promise...

Remember me...

Remember us...

The sound of the old vehicle and my mind is the only thing I could hear, I am lost in thoughts trying to decipher this unclear memories that I couldn't understand.

20 years from now or so, I lost my memories with no sources, The Last thing I could remember that day is so blurry, but I could swear in my own words that the last vision I'm seeing is a field of white flowers, the golden gates and... A child bearing in my hands. I have no idea what happened next, maybe I lost consciousness? It's so blurry.

The field of flowers gave me a scent of familiarity and closure, it felt comforting that day, it made me feel... Safe.

What matters me the most is the child I am holding that day, a child that I couldn't remember having, a child that I do not who owns... But I kept that child to myself, cause I swore that the wind has spoke to me... To take care of this child that I do not own.

“Father Zander, are you okay?”

I almost forgot that I brought my companion with me, a companion of mine who's always loyal to me in my travels.

“I’m fine, lad. Thank you for coming with me even If I forced you to stay behind and continue your studies”

“It’s fine, father. You know you're not the only one who's curious about those memories you're having, right?”

Oh, that's right. I remember opening up to him about these memories. The place... Where 15 years ago is fully destroyed during the second world war within the Grogoroans... Prehevil.

“Being too curious can sometimes lead you to the wrong path, lad. The war is not something to be remembered out of curiosity, that is a lesson you should also be remembered.”

He looked at me with pure innocent eyes, then he looked away, staring onto the road.

The travel took almost 2 hours until we reached out destination, the passing road of trees, broken trees caused by the war, and the beauty of tall mountains, small villages always caught my attention.

“We’re here, we have arrived to Prehevil” the driver told us from behind,

It became clearer after we went down cross down the sloppy hill. A giant Wall and a broken bronze gate designed in curves and roses greeted us before entering.

Prehevil... A blurred memory within me is... Becoming a little bit clearer now that I have seen it with my own eyes.

I now remember, a town filled with people, all wearing black coats, the mist covering this place that wouldn't go away, all the gothic black towers, now fully destroyed... Fallen down to bricks and ashes, nothing left standing.

Except one. A Giant Dark Cathedral, just beyond a huge bridge in the close middle of town, unharmed, only a few lost parts. The only part of town that survived and is still standing during the great war.

How?

How is it still standing?

Dismounting the vehicle, I walked close, admiring the beauty of the lake crossing the bridge.

“Father! Wait for me!” my companion catching up behind me.

“This cathedral...” I started,

“Looks familiar... So, so familiar..”

“Maybe this is one of those memories you are looking for?” my companion looks at me.

“I don't know lad”.

Admiring the bridge covered in dust and broken fallen pieces, I walked slowly and gentle, sensing the darkness caressing within this forsaken land.

Entering the Cathedral gates, a huge wave of dust covered my vision

Cough cough cough...

The place is indeed old enough. A long row of seats, and a huge figure of the God Sylvia, the God of Love, Lust and wisdom is the first thing I have seen, nothing changes this past years, everything is still intact. It's like... no one's been here for this past years or so.

Walking close, stepping up some few steps close to the altar, something caught my attention, something glittering from the dark, mirroring the sunlight beaming from the rows of gigantic windows.

I gently took it below the altar of the God herself.

Taking it, it felt hard, but soft and gentle within my reach.

An amulet...

Taking the green amulet, I let it roam around my fingers, touching the Emerald, I once again felt something familiar.

Like... I had this, owned this before...

It was given to me.

Then, Something hit me. My mind feels like it's gonna explode, my eyes widen as hundreds or millions of visions surrounded me, I drop to my knees. I sense my companion running towards me, but it's too late as a wild ring echoes both my ears.

A memory...

A memory is trying to open up in my mind.

This place...

This amulet...

Is becoming clearer...

The first memory Consumed me...

And it now takes me back... 20 years ago

Where I first arrived in prehevil.
