THE ARRIVAL

Hi, this is my first story here. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

The quad smelled of polished stone and freshly cut grass, a perfect stage for a perfect school. Blackridge University. Elite. Untouchable. And entirely unbearable. Students laughed, tossed frisbees, and posed for selfies, completely unaware of the danger that walked silently among them.

I spotted him immediately.

He was impossible to miss. Dark eyes, deep as the void, scanning everything with the precision of a predator. One glance into them and most people would feel lost, scared, like staring into an ocean too deep to swim. But they weren’t just frightening they were beautiful. Hypnotic. Dangerous.

His brown hair caught the sunlight, natural and slightly messy, giving the illusion of effortless perfection. Broad shoulders, a chest carved under his fitted shirt, muscles visible even through fabric. His presence alone demanded attention. He stood at least six-foot-two, radiating power, yet his rare, fleeting smile when it appeared was like a pearl glinting in the ocean: pure, mesmerizing, untouchable. And those soft pink lips… God, I wanted to mark them.

I didn’t flinch. Couldn’t.

I was too small, five feet tall, but I carried the weight of my own presence. Petite, slender, toned in all the right ways abs defined, body strong yet graceful and I knew how to use it. My dark wavy hair, fox-cut and untamed, fell over my eyes, curls brushing lightly against my cheeks. My brown eyes glinted, reflecting sunlight and shadow both, holding a sharpness that warned people not to test me. I wasn’t tall, but I carried an aura most people would call dangerous bold, fierce, and untouchable.

My bag strap cut across my shoulder as I scanned him again. Every movement cataloged. Every detail memorized. He wasn’t just a student. He was danger incarnate.

Near the library, I nearly collided with him.

“You’re new here, aren’t you?” His voice low, deliberate, teasing like a knife’s edge.

“I’ve been here long enough to know the shortcuts,” I said, meeting his gaze without blinking.

A flash of something crossed his dark eyes. Amusement. Recognition. Calculated danger. “Shortcuts don’t always save you.”

Recognition. He knew. Already.

By midday, I had him mapped: class schedules, cafeteria habits, library visits, even which side of the walkway he preferred. Every movement precise. Every glance alert.

Then it happened.

The earpiece.

A tiny glint in his bag. A metallic hum of something alive. My pulse spiked.

He wasn’t a student. He was trained. Dangerous. Deadly.

I pressed myself against the shadowed wall behind me, muscles coiled, eyes locked on him. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Don’t let him see.

And then he was there.

Too fast. Too precise. Hands pressed against the wall beside mine, heat radiating in the tiny space, every inch of his presence a calculated threat.

“You’re bold,” he murmured, voice low, deliberate. A test.

“I could say the same about you,” I replied, steady.

His lips curved slightly, a dangerous, rare smile, just a ghost. “I like the way you follow me. Already falling for me, huh?”

I let a hint of a smirk tug at my lips. “Keep dreaming.”

He tilted his head, dark eyes scanning me like a puzzle. He had already measured me, calculated me, understood exactly who I was.

For a heartbeat, the world shrank to just us. Wind in the trees, distant chatter, nothing else existed. A standoff. A war of presence. Awareness. He pulled at something inside me I wasn’t supposed to feel — fascination, fear, respect. And I hated it.

Then he stepped back, just slightly. Not retreat. A test.

I exhaled, forcing my pulse down. My training told me to remain detached. But the thrill the danger it was undeniable.

The game has begun!!
