The Unexpected Rebirth of Jax Dragonus
Jax opened his eyes, unaware of the two strangers before him. He quickly opens his mouth to question them but all that comes out is a shrill cry from a newly born infant. What?, Jack thinks as he continues crying. Why am I crying who are these people?! He reaches towards the figures as he sees his hands are small.
An infant? But I was just crossing the street when that car..did I die? He looks at the strangers as he tries to speak but cries take the place of his voice. One of the figures, a woman with short gray hair with a sleek body cradles Jax in her arms. “There there little one it's alright oh my little Jax..yes that will be your name Jax Dragonus.” The second figure steps forward, a man with board shoulders and muscles as he leans over the woman holding her and Jax. “He's beautiful just like you Sasha.” *The man,Todd Dragonus, smiles at his wife Sasha Dragonus. “He's quite loud isn't he, are they always loud?” Todd asks. “Of course all newborns cry when they're just born!” Sasha replies. Meanwhile Jax isn't taking the new life to well. Not like I asked to die and be reborn! And why can't I stop crying it's irritating! Jax thinks as he continues to cry as Sasha rocks him in her arms. “There there little one mommy has you.” Jax slowly stops crying as he relaxes. This feeling is so warm. Feels safe. His eyes grow drowsy as he struggles to stay awake. Todd laughs,”he’s quite resilient for being just born. Oh Jax my baby boy.” Jax closes his eyes as he succumbs to sleep as there's only the feint sound of him breathing. Sasha walks over to a corner of the room where there's a wooden cradle as she rests Jax down inside it as he sleeps soundly. She holds a pair of hands around her waist as Todd is behind her. “He's beautiful. You'll raise him to be a fine young man won't you?.” She looks at Todd with a look of concern. Todd stares back as he pulls her closer, “Of course I will.” Todd sits down in a chair he pulls up to the cradle. “So what should his profession be?” Sasha looks down at Jax as he sleeps, “Well you're the captain of the villiage guard, so i think you should train him and let him decide after what he wants in life.” Todd smiles, “He'd make a splendid swordsman”. Sasha quickly retorts with disdain,” As long as he makes the decision that that's what he wants.” Todd throws his hands up innocently in a mock surrender. “Of course of course but that doesn't mean I can't train him how to use a sword to defend himself.” Sasha sighs, “As long as he doesn't make me worry as much as you do.” Jax stirs in his sleep as he falls still again. “Quite restless isn't he?; a good trait he'll have when he's fully grown.” Todd observes. Sasha replies back while rubbing his head, “As long as he takes care of himself. That's all I could ask for.”7 years later “Jax come on we're going to be late to the market!” Todd calls as he heads out the door. Jax,now 8, throws on his shoes as he follows his father out the door. It's been 8 years since Jax has come into this world. He recalls his memory of how he died. I really died because of a driver texting; what a let down. The thoughts hits Jack as he groans slightly as remembers heading back from the store at the age of 17. Jax steps out the house as he looks out at the town full of life and houses of brick and wood. This world I was born into is called Roux; a world I don't fully understand yet. But much different than my own. Jax looks around as his mother,Sasha comes out the house with a basket. “You'll need this to help with the groceries.” Jax nods and smiles as he thanks her. This woman is Sasha Dragonus, former high mage and a wonderful mother. Jax walks behind his father, Todd Dragonus, as he stares at his back. I've heard many things about this man; he's the current captain of our village’s guard assigned with everyone's safety. But there are some who say he used to work in the capital. Wonder what kind of man he was then; he smiles all the time but I can see the glimpses in his eyes sometimes of a time far from the current one. But he's a great husband and loving father.
