Chapter 1 - This is why I don’t socialize - first person
The agency was huge. Bigger than I expected, and people were lined up outside the doors. I jogged up to the line, my shaggy hair blowing in the wind. When I got to the back of the line, I huffed, brushing the hair out of my face and fixing it. In front of me, a boy about my age stared at me. I spared him a glance. He didn’t look half bad, but still not as pretty as me. Today I wore my red baggy jeans with a black shirt tied up to show off my waist, which is pretty much nowhere to be seen. I mean, what can I say? I’m just perfect in every way. My eyeliner was a little smudged, but it didn’t matter too much; my eyeshadow was dark anyway. The boy continued to stare at me, not even realizing the line was moving. Eventually, he noticed how I gestured behind him and huffed, and he turned around and moved up the line. I watched as more disappointed people walked out the other side of the building. Must have been rejected. You see, there’s this book currently being made into a movie about two boys who meet at the sea and fall in love. Cliche, I know, but also kinda cute, which is why I’m trying out. Plus, I look like one of the side characters, so that’s a plus. As long as I don’t get one of the leads, I’ll be fine. I don’t really want to pretend to be in love with another dude. Anyway, it’s almost my turn, and I notice the boy in front of me getting nervous. I look him up and down, taking in his grungy style and medium blond hair. I turn away from him to look to the side of him. Six more people to go before I can. The time slowly passes and I’m eventually next. I’m currently peeking through the door to watch the other boys audition. He’s trying to get the best friend role, but eventually, I hear he gets one of the leads. He wasn’t that far off looking from one of the leads in the book, so it kinda makes sense. Alrighty then, finally my turn.
I walk into the building and talk to the lady in front of me while I catch the other boy walking into the back out of the corner of my eye. As always I do my audition gracefully. She examines me, looking me up and down and all around. She announces that I will be the other lead role. I start up trying to explain to her that I don’t want the lead role, but she insists. Who am I to say no to so much money?. I walk to the back, where she tells me to go. I’mm a little grumpy now, and I have to go socialize with the others back here. When I get to the back, there are about 5 other boys all around my age, all looking pretty different. They all turn towards me when I open the loud, squeaky door. The first person I spot is the blond boy from earlier. He’s a little taller, but pretty much everyone is because I’m pretty short. I turn to face the other boys around me. I look each up and down before scoffing at all of them and going to sit down at a seat. One of the boys came up to me. He’s wearing bright colors and has light blond hair. He sits next to me and smiles at me. I LOVE HIM. not in that kinda way but I kinda just want to put him in my pocket and keep him forever. He looks up at me with big black boba looking eyes. He smiles wide at me and introduces himself.
¨ Hi! My name is Idres but most of my friends just call me Resy. What’s your name?¨ he asks, staring up at me with big eyes.
¨ I’m Killian . It’s nice to meet you, Resy.¨ I say, giving him a soft smile while I stare down at him. He looks over at the other boys then gestures at another boy to come out of the crowd.
¨This is Areli but we just call him Ari!¨ he says as an even shorter younger looking boy shuffles close to him. He’s got short sloppy black hair and a shy expression. He huddles closer to Resy staring up at me with wide eyes.
¨you look cool¨ He says quietly in while avoiding eye contact. God these boys are cute.
¨Thank you Ari¨ I said back to him. It’s official I’ve decided I’m adopting them. They are literally the cutest boys I’ve ever seen on this planet. How could I not. The rest of the boys introduce themselves and I noticed there are a few more that must have just arrived. There’s 9 of us now. Julian a taller boy with dirty blonde hair, Xeno a boy around Julian’s height with hair close to mine, Valor a boy about my height with bright blue hair that fades closer to the ends, Elroy a smaller boy with almost white hair, Millas a brunette sweet looking boy, and finally Tide the blond haired boy from earlier. Tide was slightly taller than me with curious yet dark eyes. He sorta glared at me but maybe that’s just his stupid face. I turned away from the others to go back to looking at my two sunshine kids. Both are still looking up at me with sparkling eyes. One of the others starts speaking and I focus my attention back towards them. They are all staring right at me just blankly. I didn’t hear what they said so I kinda just stared at them. Tide scoffs and repeats, ¨ What role did you get?¨
¨Oh I got the main character¨” I answer in a more forced tone. He scoffs again
¨ Of course you did¨ He says while turning away refusing to look me in the eye. What is this dude’s problem? No seriously he can’t be talking when he looks like THAT.
¨What’s your problem?¨ I ask slightly irritated
¨You’re really ugly I was hoping for someone more I don’t know. Cute.¨ He says shooting me with another glare. Okay yep what a great way to start off my career.
¨Atleast I have more personality and money than you.¨ I shoot back. He snaps his head back to stare at me. His eyes sharpen before he turns toward the door. I sigh and turn back to look at my sunshine twins. They look up at me slightly wide eyed. I wave off the conversation and continue to work on imagining the adoption papers for my two new sons.
