Summary

El teléfono de Sofía vibró sobre la mesa de noche a las 2:47 a.m.

Ella no durmió bien desde hace meses. No desde que perdió su trabajo en el periódico. No desde que el banco empezó a llamar todos los días. Así que cuando la pantalla se iluminó con un mensaje de un número desconocido, ya estaba despierta.

"¿Quieres ganar $50,000? Pasa una noche en el Hotel Estrella. Responde SÍ si aceptas las reglas."

Sofía frunció el ceño. Hotel Estrella. El nombre le sonaba. Lo buscó en internet y los resultados la hicieron sentarse en la cama.

Hotel Estrella. Cerrado desde hace diez años. Desaparición de una menor en sus instalaciones. Caso sin resolver.

—Es una broma —murmuró.

Pero el banco no bromeaba con sus deudas. Su madre tampoco bromeaba cuando le preguntaba cómo iba a pagar el tratamiento.

Sus dedos temblaron mientras escribía: SÍ.

El mensaje de respuesta llegó en segundos.

"Esperamos verte mañana. 8:00 p.m. No llegues tarde. Y recuerda: cumple las reglas o no saldrás con vida."

Sofía leyó las reglas que aparecieron en la pantalla. Solo cinco. Parecían sacadas de una película de terror barata.

Regla 1: No salgas de tu habitación entre las 3:00 a.m. y las 4:00 a.m.

Regla 2: Si escuchas una voz que te llama por tu nombre, no respondas.

Regla 3: No confíes en los espejos.

Regla 4: Si ves a una niña con vestido blanco, no la sigas.

Regla 5: El ascensor solo funciona hasta el piso 5. Nunca presiones el botón del 6.

Se rio para sí misma.

—¿En serio?

Pero mientras apagaba el teléfono y se recostaba de nuevo, algo helado le recorrió la espalda.

Porque acababa de recordar por qué conocía ese nombre.

Hace diez años, cuando Sofía tenía dieciséis, su mejor amiga se llamaba Luna.

Y Luna desapareció en el Hotel Estrella.
