Aurelia’s Brave Wings
This is Aurelia. She is a very special butterfly with bright, golden wings. While other butterflies like to stay in a big group, Aurelia likes to fly in her own way. She feels happy being herself.
Most butterflies fly to the big garden every morning. But today, Aurelia wants to see the tall trees in the woods. "I will go this way," she says. She chooses her own path and starts her adventure.
Aurelia stops to look at a tiny dewdrop on a leaf. It looks like a sparkling diamond! She stays very still. She loves to see the little things that other butterflies fly past too quickly.
Aurelia sees two bushes. One has sour red berries, and one has sweet blue berries. Aurelia picks a red berry. She wants to know what "sour" tastes like. She learns that she likes sweet berries much better!
Suddenly, the sky turns grey. It starts to rain! Aurelia did not look at the clouds before she left. "Oh dear," she says. "I must find a dry place to stay safe."
Aurelia finds a big, red mushroom. She hides underneath it to stay dry. While she waits, she thinks about the rain. "Next time, I will check the sky first," she says. She takes care of herself.
After the rain stops, Aurelia meets a snail named Pip. Pip is very slow. Aurelia decides to stay with him for a while. She tells Pip stories about the tall trees while he crawls over a bumpy rock.
Aurelia finds a yellow leaf on the ground. She looks at the thin lines on the leaf. They look like a tiny map! She walks along the lines with her feet. Every little detail makes her feel full of joy.
The sun is starting to go down. Aurelia needs a place to sleep. She finds a tall purple flower that looks like a bell. It is not where the other butterflies sleep, but she thinks it is perfect.
Aurelia curls up inside the soft petals. She is tired but very happy. She made her own choices all day and learned many new things. Her life feels just right. Sleep tight, brave Aurelia.
