CHAPTER 1
CHLOE'S POV
"Don't you dare touch me", I shout at him.
"Baby, please don't do this", my idiot boyfriend Nolan Reynolds kept on blabbing.
"You can't just quit on us cos of this, please", he continue but I was getting pissed.
"You're joking, right", I was even more angrier than before.
"You know what, I'm done with this relationship, ok. Now you can frolic around with whoever you want", I spat angrily.
"Please, we can't end this ", he kept begging.
" Too bad, I already did", I said and walked away
I know y'all might be wondering what happened so I'm gonna take y'all on a trip down memory lane.
It all started in our last year of junior high, I had a crush on him but I didn't think we'd end up together. I was proven wrong when he asked me to be his date to the annual founders day party of Lakewood High. I was beyond excited and I couldn't stop thinking about it. That night at the party, he told me that he has had a crush on me for sometime and wants us to take things to the next level. I couldn't say no because of my feelings for him so I said yes. Ho took my first kiss and since then, we spent time together. We went on dates and got each other gifts. We spent the whole day of our first anniversary together.
A few months to our second anniversary, I noticed that he had become more distant. We barely talked or went out together. I didn't dwell much on it because I thought him being in the school's basketball team was the reason. Well, not until I found out that he's been screwing Hailey Chest.
I started crying while walking. I tried calling my sister but she didn't answer. I guess she was on a nightshift.
As if lady luck was trying to piss me off, it started raining. I hadn't even gone too far and I was drenched,my burgundy maxi dress was sticking to my body, showing my curves, while I cursed mentally.What was even more worse was that I had to walk home.
*Honk,honk,honk*
I heard a car honking behind me.
"Shit", I cursed thinking it was a bunch of kidnappers.
*Honk,honk, honk*
The car honked again and this time I quickened my pace. Then I heard the car door open.
"Chloe!!",a masculine voice screamed my name and I turned back. My jaw dropped because of who I saw, Keith McAllister.
"What are you doing here", I asked still shocked.
"I was driving by and then I saw you,so are you gonna stand there and ask questions or you're gonna get in", he said
I thought about it for a while before speaking
" Aren't you bothered that you're car seat might get wet?"
" Well, it wouldn't catch a cold like you", he has a point.
"Okay", I said before getting in his black sports car.
He also got in and asked
" Why are you walking home?"
"I tried calling my sister but I guess she was working so...", I explained
" How about your boyfriend?"
" He,uh,we broke up", I stuttered, lowering my face.
" Is that why you've been crying?"
" Huh? How'd you know?", I was dazed.
How would he have known because the rain washed away my tears.
" You're eyes are puffy and red, so it's quite obvious".
" Oh",was all I could say.
He revved up the car and started driving.
" Where are you taking me?"
" To your house"
" I didn't give you my address",I stated.
" I'm your nextdoor neighbor, so you didn't have to",he smirked.
I totally forgot that he's been my neighbor for almost six years.
" I forgot "
" I can't blame you "
" Yeah, because we haven't said more than two words to each other"
" Yeah "
Keith and I have never had a conversation before and it's kinda weird that we're talking now.
Well, it wasn't up to 30 minutes,we arrived at my house.
" Thanks for the ride", I said removing my seatbelt.
" No problem", was all he said.
" Do you mind coming in for tea?", I asked as an act of generosity.
" Nah, I'm good"
Well, at least I tried. I came down from the car and went to the porch.Then, he drove off to his house.
It took a while before I found my keys and then opened the door. I went in and dumped my clothes and shoes in the laundry basket without a care in the world. I went to my room,prepared a hot bath and stepped in. For a moment,I felt myself relaxing, but then, I began to remember the scene I met my stupid boyfriend in. I couldn't hold back anymore, I began to cry.
I cried for about an hour or two before I regained myself. I stepped out of the tub and went to the bathroom mirror. I couldn't even recognize myself, my eyes were red and puffy, my hair was a mess but I didn't care. What I cared about now was to stop thinking about that douchebag and move on. He wasn't worth my tears.
I came out of the bathroom and put on my PJs. I skipped my skincare routine then flopped on the bed, trying to get some sleep.
*Ding*
I got a notification on my phone. It was from my Instagram, saying I just got a new follower and a message. I opened the message and it was from................. Keith McAllister!!!!!!
Keith - Hi, are you asleep yet?
Me - No
Keith - How are you holding up?
Me - I'm doing great
Keith - I can tell you're lying
Me - Well, I have to think positively to get over him
Keith - Oh
Me - Yeah, and how'd you find me on Instagram?
Keith - I have my ways
Me - You're a creep
Keith - Thanks for the compliment (•‿•)
Me - I'll be going to bed now
Keith - Good night :)
Me - Good night
Ok, I'm freaking out. I just had a chat conversation with Keith, my neighbor who hasn't said more than two words to me for over six years.
I eventually fell asleep with the thought on my mind
