Preface
The land of Fènias is a vast continent surrounded by endless waters. Every living thing is infused with Torak, a primordial essence that sustains life and bestows unique abilities upon the four known races:
Secolari: Nature-bound creatures possessing regenerative and healing abilities.
Arcash: A small-statured people capable of metamorphosis.
Grauken: A beast-like race endowed with immense strength and agility.
Humans: Beings capable of weaving magic.
The emergence of a fifth race upon Fènias has thrown the land into turmoil: the Zarkhan. These are deformed creatures of unknown origin and devastating power. To confront this threat, Humans have established the Academies. Within these walls, the youth learn to manipulate the Torak and unlock the seal that limits their power.
Those who master the seal have the opportunity to be named "Haslan." These are the mightiest of knights, the only warriors capable of facing a Zarkhan, and are revered as the guardians of the realms. Yet, a legend tells of six Haslan—known as the "Exiled"—who abused their power to subjugate the city of Tars before razing it to the ground. They are considered harbingers of evil, hunted by all the kingdoms.
The capital, Wardya, is not exempt from the search for these criminals, though far graver problems are looming. Constant Zarkhan attacks on neighboring villages have driven a tide of refugees to the city’s gates. Sustaining the population is becoming increasingly difficult; resources are dwindling, and taxes are no longer enough...
