No Way Out

The story opens with a narrow, deserted road cutting through a dense forest. Tall trees loom on both sides, their branches forming a dark canopy overhead. The only sound is the soft hum of a car engine and the faint rustling of leaves in the night breeze.

‎Inside the car, a couple drives in silence. The atmosphere feels slightly tense, though neither of them says anything. The deeper they go into the forest, the weaker the network signal becomes… and the quieter everything gets.

‎Suddenly—

Thud.

‎The car jerks slightly and begins to slow down.

‎“Did you feel that?” the woman asks, her voice uneasy.

‎The man pulls the car over. “Probably just a stone,” he says, trying to sound calm.

‎They step out.

‎The forest feels different outside the car—heavier… almost watching.

‎The man walks around and crouches near the tire. His expression changes instantly.

‎“It’s not a stone…” he mutters.

‎The tire is completely flat—torn by something sharp. Not just punctured… sliced.

‎And then they notice it.

‎A thin, pointed metal spike lying on the road.

‎Before they can process it—

‎Whoosh.

‎Another sharp object shoots past them and lands nearby.

‎They freeze.

‎“Did you see that?” she whispers.

‎Then another one.

‎This time, closer.

‎Panic takes over.

‎“Run!” he shouts.

‎Without thinking, they both dash into the forest, branches scratching against them as they push through the darkness. Their footsteps echo loudly against the unnatural silence around them.

‎But in their desperation, they don’t see what’s ahead.

‎Suddenly, the woman screams.

‎Her leg snaps tight—caught in a hidden trap beneath the leaves.

‎She falls hard to the ground.

‎“Help me!” she cries, struggling to free herself.

‎The man turns back for a moment. Their eyes meet.

‎For a split second, he hesitates.

‎Then fear wins.

‎“I’ll get help!” he says—but his voice betrays him.

‎And he runs.

‎Faster.

‎Deeper.

‎Alone.

‎He keeps looking back, expecting something to chase him. His breathing becomes uneven, his thoughts racing.

‎Then—

‎He stops.

‎Abruptly.

‎Something feels wrong.

‎Slowly, he looks down.

‎A thin wire stretches across his path, pressed tightly against his waist.

‎Almost invisible in the dark.

‎One more step… and it would have been too late.

‎His body freezes.

‎He doesn’t dare move.

‎His mind races, trying to find a way out.

‎Then a faint sound comes from above.

‎A creak.

‎His eyes widen.

‎Before he can react—

‎Something heavy drops from the trees.

‎Everything goes silent.

‎Back where the woman is trapped, the forest feels colder.

‎She’s still trying to free her leg, her hands shaking, her breath breaking into quiet sobs.

‎“Hello…? Is anyone there?” she calls out.

‎No answer.

‎Only the sound of something… moving.

‎Slowly.

‎Deliberately.

‎Footsteps.

‎Not running.

‎Walking.

‎She looks toward the darkness between the trees.

‎A shadow begins to form.

‎Someone—or something—is coming closer.

‎Her voice trembles. “Please… help me…”

‎The figure doesn’t respond.

‎It just keeps moving.

‎And then—

‎silence.

‎The forest returns to stillness.

‎The road remains empty.

‎The car sits abandoned.

‎As if no one had ever been there at all.
