THE DEAD DON’T SUBSCRIBE

A paranormal horror, mystery and romance

Six friends. Three love stories. One YouTube channel. And an estate that should have remained forgotten.

Mahira Sharma has always been a little different. She feels things she cannot explain, senses presences that others cannot feel, and sometimes experiences moments that seem to belong to someone else’s life. She has spent years convincing herself that her imagination is simply too active. That is, until Blackpine Estate enters her life.

What begins as curiosity about an abandoned mansion and the mysterious disappearance of a girl named Naina in 1999 soon becomes something far more disturbing. Something happens to Mahira, something she cannot explain or control, and she discovers that the world she has always known is only one side of reality. There is another world, one inhabited by restless spirits, forgotten memories, and things that have learned to imitate the living.

Mahira can cross into that world. But every time she does, returning becomes a little more difficult.

Her closest friends refuse to let her face it alone.

Abhinav Bisht is the last person who would believe in ghosts. Cold, composed, and stubbornly logical, he demands evidence where Mahira senses danger. He cannot see what she sees, cannot follow her into the world she enters, and cannot always understand what she experiences. Yet when she is in trouble, he is the first person to stand between her and whatever threatens her. He calls it common sense. She calls him impossible. Neither of them is brave enough to admit that somewhere between their endless arguments and quiet moments, they have become something far more important to each other than either is willing to acknowledge.

Pihu is the heart of the group, sensitive enough to notice when someone is hurting before they say a word. She is frightened of the dark, hates abandoned places, and would happily choose a locked room with a working light over any paranormal investigation. Unfortunately for her, loving her friends means following them into places she would never enter alone.

Kabir, the group’s resident prankster, believes almost every uncomfortable situation can be improved with a joke and a camera. He is the one who turns their investigations into entertaining videos, teasing everyone and making light of their worst decisions. But the humour disappears the moment someone he loves is in danger. When things become real, Kabir is willing to put himself at risk to bring his friends home.

Sanya is the researcher, planner, and reluctant voice of reason. She collects evidence, studies old records, builds timelines, and refuses to enter a dangerous situation without a plan. She believes every mystery has an explanation, even if finding it takes weeks of sleepless nights. Veer, on the other hand, believes the best way to solve a mystery is to walk straight into it and worry about the consequences later. Reckless, impulsive, and always ready to say, “Let’s go. We’ll figure it out when we get there,” he drives Sanya absolutely mad. Somehow, she is also the person who keeps following him.

Together, the six friends run a YouTube channel dedicated to exploring abandoned places, investigating local legends, and uncovering stories that others have forgotten. Their channel begins as a way to have fun, create memories, and perhaps earn a little money along the way. Blackpine Estate seems like the perfect subject for their next investigation.

Until their cameras capture something none of them remembers seeing.

Until their recordings contain voices that were never spoken.

Until someone appears in their photographs who was never there.

And until Mahira realises that whatever is waiting inside Blackpine may know more about her than she knows about herself.

The deeper they dig into Naina’s disappearance, the more the boundaries between the living and the dead begin to crumble. Their friendship becomes their greatest strength, their feelings for one another become impossible to ignore, and their YouTube channel begins attracting attention from something far more dangerous than curious viewers.

Because the thing inside Blackpine does not merely haunt the estate.

It can imitate the people they trust. It can borrow familiar voices, wear familiar faces, and use the smallest details of their memories to make its lies believable. Somewhere behind the photographs, reflections, and recordings is a presence that should not exist.

And somewhere inside the estate, the real Naina may still be waiting.

The six friends make one rule before their first investigation is over: nobody goes alone, and nobody gets left behind.

They have no idea that something has already begun learning how to use that promise against them.

Because some places remember everyone who enters.

Some spirits never find their way home.

And some things follow you long after you stop recording.

At Blackpine Estate, the dead are watching. The living are falling in love. And the next video might be the last one they ever upload.
