Introduction
Dear reader, welcome back...
Vibrato began as a feeling.
Crescendo began when I realized that feeling had never really ended.
When I first wrote Vibrato, I already knew pieces of what came after. There were moments I could see, conversations I could almost hear, and parts of these characters' lives that existed somewhere beyond the ending I was writing.
I simply didn't know yet that they belonged to another book.
At the time, they were only fragments of a story that seemed to stretch farther than I had planned.
Then Vibrato found its ending.
And those fragments were still there.
The characters had grown, their world had grown with them, and the things they had left unresolved hadn't disappeared simply because the final page had been written.
They had only become louder.
That is where Crescendo began.
This story takes place one year later. Crystal is stepping into adulthood, college, and a world of music that is becoming much bigger than the one she knew before. Some people have moved on. Some have changed. Some feelings were supposed to have faded.
Not all of them did.
And just like Vibrato, this story was never meant to exist in silence.
The songs mentioned throughout the book exist, and Verses of the Heart: Crescendo continues the multimedia storytelling project that began with Vibrato.
The original soundtrack and short visual pieces were created alongside the story to extend its atmosphere beyond the page.

You don't need them to follow the story.
The book will always stand on its own.
But if Vibrato was about discovering the feelings we are afraid to name...
