Summary

Sophia vowed to never meet Killian again after she found him cheating on her, while Killian swore to never cross paths with Sophia when he found out that she was carrying another man’s child. But are their accusations valid? Or did fate play a cruel joke on them? Their bond was broken five years ago, yet when they met again, they felt the old sparks fly, and this only made Sophia’s job harder. A werewolf war has broken out, killing many innocent wolves, all because of one power-hungry man. His motive is simple: find a white wolf and sacrifice it to achieve immortality. Sophia was a white wolf and a healer, and she was sent to the Silverblood pack to treat the casualties after a massive attack by the rogues. Killian had sworn to never forgive Sophia after what she did, but what would happen when she came back into his life again, and this time she didn't beg him to believe her? And this made Killian even more mad. But what would happen when the rogue finds out that Sophia is a white wolf? Will Killian fight to save her life, or will he simply let the werewolf council deal with it?

Sophia Evans - POV

“I am not going!” I screamed for the nth time while the men around me stared in horror, except for Silas.

“Sophie, this is a matter of life and death.” Silas said in a gentle tone when he stopped in front of me with a pleading look on his face while the members of the elders’ council silently watched the scene unfold in front of them.

“Why can't someone else go, Silas?” I asked him, pointing at Victoria.

"That's because this is your pack.”

"Miss Evans.” I was broken from my thoughts when the driver called my name. “We will reach the Silverblood pack in five minutes," he told me when I nodded my head. I took in a deep breath and finally looked out through the window.

The town looked just the same with its old-fashioned buildings among a few brand-new ones when the road began to steep, and finally the car stopped for the driver. There was a small crowd gathered near the pack house entrance.

“Can you stay for a day or two?” I asked Daniel desperately, hoping to cling to the sense of familiarity I had gotten used to.

“I wish I could, Miss Evans.” Daniel said in an apologetic tone when he got out of the car. A few minutes later, the back door was opened, and I stepped out. Among all the unfamiliar faces, two faces stood out.

“Sophia?” Cyrus whispered in disbelief, but my eyes locked with a pair of electric blue eyes that were staring at me with hatred. He hasn't changed a bit. But I think he did build even more muscles, while his dark brown hair looks like it has gotten darker. “Killian!” Cyrus exclaimed when Killian shoved the bouquet of roses into Cyrus’s hand and stormed inside. “Where are you going!” he yelled, but there was no use; he had already left.

Murmurs began to spread when Cyrus gave me an awkward smile as he stepped forward with the bouquet. “Welcome back, Sophia," he greeted as he extended the bouquet towards me.

"It's Miss Evans for you, Beta Mercer.” I told him in an emotionless tone. “And I won't step inside your pack unless I receive a formal welcome.” I know I should put my ego aside because I was here to help the pack, but I just couldn't do it.

The moment I saw Killian, it was like the painful memories that I desperately tried to forget just rushed back. "So…Miss Evans, please don't make an issue. I will make sure that Alpha Vance attends the welcome dinner tonight.” Cyrus pledged, but I stood as still as a stone.

“My car is still here, Beta Mercer. Your pack were the ones who called for help, not me. And I would not lose anything if I just turn and leave right now.” I wanted him when I saw fear cloud his iris.

“Give me a few minutes," he told me when he walked back inside.

"Miss Evans, I think you should put this issue aside.” Daniel mind-linked me.

“I am the white wolf, Daniel. And you know my decision is the last one.” I told him when he kept quiet and stepped back. Ten minutes later, I heard heavy footsteps approaching me when I saw Killian walk out. Anger was written all over his face when he walked towards me and extended the bouquet.

“Welcome to our pack, Miss Evans," he gritted when a smirk appeared on my face as I accepted the flowers.

“Thank you, Alpha Vance.” I said when I extended my hand and Killian placed it. The moment our skin touched, I felt an electric wave travel up my arms, waking up the emotions that I buried long ago.

I quickly retracted when I saw disgust cloud his senses. “My beta will show you your room.” Killian told me before he turned around and walked inside.

“You should have made him show us the room.” Becca, my wolf, growled in my head.

“Easy, Becca. We have a whole month to make him suffer. We shouldn't hurt his Alpha pride on the first day.” I told her.

"Miss Evans, shall we go?” "Beta," Mercer asked me when I nodded my head. I turned around to face Daniel when I felt the tears well up.

“Tell Silas I have reached her safely and that I will be back before he could even miss me, all right?” I asked Daniel when he nodded his head.

“Take care, Miss Evans.” Daniel told me when I walked into the pack house for the second time.

Nothing had changed in here when Cyrus led me up the grand stairs and finally stopped in front of the hallway on the first floor. We took the hallway to the right and began walking towards the guest bedroom while my eyes examined the familiar portraits hanging on the wall when I came to a stop at a particular one.

My heart began to race while tears began to well up without my control. “Why is this still here?” I asked Cyrus as I stared at my face on the picture. It was the picture that was taken on my wedding day with Killian, the day I desperately tried to forget.

“We never forget the past, Miss Evans.” Cyrus said in a dejected tone when I turned to glare at him.

“I bet your Alpha has already forgotten the past.” I told him in a bitter tone. “It would be appropriate if you hung the picture of your alpha with his current luna." I spat as I continued walking past the picture.

When we came to a stop in front of the room that was assigned to me, Cyrus opened the door with the key and handed it over to me. “Once you are ready to see the patients, call my office line. I will come to take you to the hospital wing, Miss Evans.” Cyrus told me when I nodded my head and stepped inside and locked the door.

“I think they put the picture up just before we came.” Becca said, but I didn't answer.

I closed my eyes and recited the mantra I had been telling myself for five years.

Killian is in your past.

Forget about it and move on.
