Chapter 4
Joe: "A few weeks ago, my girlfriend left me. She broke up with me because of my appearance and my sense of style; she felt I had changed for the worse. I am struggling financially, and I have developed many bad habits. She was the best person I have ever met, and I am deeply hurt to have lost her. I feel as though I was unlucky for her to be with.
Beyond that, I feel like I am not a favorite person in my family, and I don't feel supported by them. I am depressed. My father is divorced, and my mother is currently living at my grandmother's house, working hard to support my siblings. When I found out about her financial situation, I felt terrible because I was unemployed at the time. Eventually, I landed a job as a manager at an office. While working there, I met someone new, and we began a relationship. However, she was doing much better in life than I was, so She hurt me and insulted me so much, even though I cared about her. That was my first kiss, yet she still chose someone else. I know I should move on, but I struggle to see the point of continuing like this.
Anya: I am sorry to hear that. I can see how much you are struggling, but please don't give up on your life. You might not be able to find the motivation you need right now, but you have your own path to follow; you have to come to terms with that yourself. Actually, my own life isn't as perfect as you might think.
Joe: Then what is your problem? Will you share it with me?
Anya: I am near the beach at First Street. Could you come to meet me?
Joe: That sounds nice. Let’s meet up.
Anya: Actually, there is something I should have told you—I have a boyfriend. I’m so sorry.
Joe: Seriously? You have a boyfriend?
Anya: Yeah, I do. But honestly, I don't know him that well. He always ignores what I say, like my feelings don't matter, and I never even get the chance to ask for his perspective. I feel like I don't even have the right to ask him anything. I really love him, but he doesn't put in any effort. Still, I like him and I can't seem to stay away from him."
