New Beginnings
J genuinely could not believe E was actually in his dorm sitting next to him as he tried to sneakily adjust himself so his bulge was not too noticeable (not that he was that big or anything...). A part of him hoped that maybe her noticing it would encourage things to move along in a...spicier direction, but he also knew it could be a total mood killer if she really did just want to watch a movie with him: he'd be happy either way.
J couldn't believe his luck. Despite the fact that she was right there, right next to him, laughing and having a good time with him instead of going out (as most of their dorm did on Friday nights), he still thought maybe he was overthinking it and that he should play it safe. E was, without a doubt, the single most attractive girl he had ever met (possibly ever), and from the moment he saw her he knew he had to at least try to make some thing happen.
J had promised himself upon arriving on campus that he would be different. He had spent his high school years overthinking, hesitant, cautious, and generally unable to make a move or take initiative. He had learned after the fact that a lot of the girls he liked had liked him back, but he had taken too long, and they had (understandably) moved on to people who had been willing to take the risk of possibly being rejected or denied.
Normally, this would terrify him him. Normally, he would not have been the first to talk to E, to beeline it to her when their only shared class instructed them to find a partner, to ask her first if she wanted to exchange numbers, and to offer her an open invitation to his dorm if she was bored or wanted to pregame before heading out.
His friend, B, sold alcohol he got from his older friend to the whole dorm at a mark-up. When J had asked him for a recommendation because he invited E over and he wanted to show her a good time with good booze, he handed him a relatively expensive bottle and said "free of charge, good luck my friend."
"Gotta remember to get B something nice no matter how tonight goes", J thought, he honestly teared up a little when B gave him the bottle, he was a very sweet friend. Everything seemed to be going well, but J could not shake his overthinking tendencies: it only takes a second to ruin a moment, after all.
Admittedly, maybe J should not have suggested for them to watch The Dark Knight, especially if he was hoping for something to suggest a mood. But, unfortunately, E had asked him what his favorite movie was, and J really didn't want to lie (also he REALLY fucking loves The Dark Knight).
J shared with E that he had watched it so many times he could recount the whole thing from memory, a party trick E seemed to eat up when he narrated the opening scene to her, her giggling and telling him it was impressive while lightly touching his shoulder and looking into his eyes.
A past version of J probably would've kept going, but he was trying to trust his instincts more, and his instincts told him the joke was over since she was trying to talk to him about other things now as the movie played in the background.
Normally, J hated looking into people's eyes, but E was different. Her face was so adorable, her gaze made him want to look at her forever, something completely foreign to him: normally, he had to time how much to look someone in the eyes before looking away, not time it so he didn't stare too much.
He had never understood what getting lost in someone's eyes meant until today, and he relished every second they stared at each other and waited with anticipation every time they had to look away from each other until they could gaze at each other once again.
"Fuck, am I in love with her?" J wondered as E helped herself to another mixed drink, J tactically mimicking how much she drank so they could be operating on the same wavelength, he definitely did NOT want to get too drunk. E placed her drink on the counter where the TV sat and leaned back into her chair, placing a seemingly outstretched hand in the space where their chairs met.
J felt his heart race and his mind fire on all cylinders. He knew what he wanted to do, but every other thought was also a worry preventing him from doing so. He had been in moments like this so many times before and he knew what he normally would do...Against the cacophony of voices in his head, he also leaned back and let his hand glide right to hers so they would slightly overlap.
The moment felt like it was taking forever, but despite everything, all he could think about was how nice her hand felt against his and how badly he just wanted to hold it and pull her closer. He hesitated to look at her, he didn't know whether that'd be smart or not, but as the moment dragged on, he realized that she was not pulling away nor doing anything besides playing with his fingers as they continued to watch.
"This is the moment", his brain screamed at him. He turned his head and fully placed his hand over hers and held it, tucking his fingers slightly under hers. She responded by looking at him with a beaming smile and clasping her hands with his, saying nothing.
He scooted closer to her, she did the same: their shoulders now touching as they held their hands between them and then...her head rested on his shoulder. He sighed contently as he rested his head on hers as well, their held hands resting on his thigh now: he got hard instantly feeling her hand brush against his inner thigh.
"That touch-starved, huh...", he thought to himself as he realized he had completely lost all interest in the movie and was focusing solely on her. Closer to her now, he realized she smelled really nice. He thought it'd probably be very weird if he took a big whiff like you would a flower, but he also really wanted to because of how intoxicating she smelled to him.
"You smell really good," J sheepishly said. She tilted her face slightly so their eyes could meet, "Yeah? I like it a lot too", she said as she bared her neck to him, "you want to smell it up close?" Like a bee to pollen, J brought his nose practically on her neck and deeply breathed in before exhaling out just as forcibly.
E started to giggle, "stop, that tickles!" They started to laugh, "you said I could!"
