SAVANNAH SINCLAIR
The first day of senior year felt like walking into a new world. I felt like I reincarnated as a beautiful blonde hair, blue-eyed model.
Last year, I would have had to yank open the school doors while trying to balance my books. Now I waltz right in. People notice me.
I fix the strap of my tote bag and keep my eyes forward as I walk through the crowded halls. The attention still felt strange.
Over the summer, I changed a lot. New clothes, hair, contacts instead of glasses. It's all thanks to my best friend Sierra Rodriguez.
Speaking of which, my best friend is already waiting for me at my locker!
“There she is!”
I laughed. “Good morning slut.”
She grabbed my shoulders dramatically. “No, we need to talk about how the whole hall is staring at you. And that beautiful ass!”
I blushed. “They are not!”
“Girl, if I were a guy, my dick would be so hard right now!” She nodded her head to three guys walking past. All glancing at me.
“Case proven.”
The attention wasn’t completely awful. It was just weird. For years, I had been invisible. The only person to notice me was my ex, Peter. Then he decided to break up with me. I would say I handled it well, but if you ask Sierra, I was trapped in the cave of my room, crying for weeks. That's when I decided to do something.
“Just wait until the football player starts to notice,” Sierra said.
“Please no-“
“Especially Maverick Rivers”
I rolled my eyes. She and I both knew how much of a manwhore he was. Every girl knew him. 6’3” future NFL prospect, brunette hair, green eyes. One flash of his smile got a girl right in bed with him. But I just didn't see all the excitement. How could a girl go for a guy that… what's the word? SLUTTY!
Perfect timing. He entered the hall. His friends, or followers, behind him. For a second, he glanced at me but kept walking away. No double-take or reaction. Good, that's how it should be. Because guys like him existed in their own sex-driven world.
He doesn't matter, I have plans for my life. Goals and dreams waited for me at the end of the year.
