Chapter 1: THE BEAST IN THE SHADOWS
The air inside the abandoned warehouse on the fringes of Kuala Lumpur was thick with the copper stench of fresh blood and the suffocating humidity of Malaysia. Heavy iron beams rusted overhead, casting long, skeletal shadows across the concrete floor.
In the center of this grim theater, a man named Jack was bound securely to a heavy wooden chair. His breath came in ragged, wet gasps. He was utterly broken, his face a mosaic of purple bruises and lacerations, yet a stubborn, desperate defiance kept his jaw locked tight. He refused to confess.
Standing over him was Tawan, whose knuckles were already split and stained red. Tawan delivered another brutal, echoing blow to Jackโs ribs. The crack of bone echoed through the cavernous space, but Jack only spat blood onto the concrete, his teeth bared in a silent refusal.
Exhaustion finally caught up with Tawan. Wiping the sweat from his forehead with the back of his forearm, he stepped aside, his chest heaving.
Without a word, Akin seamlessly moved into the empty space. Akinโs face was a mask of cold indifference as he raised his fist, raining down a sequence of heavy blows, demanding the truth that Jack so desperately tried to protect.
Suddenly, the screech of the warehouse's main iron door cutting through the silence halted Akin mid-strike. The heavy thud of metal echoing against metal signaled an arrival. Hearing that specific sound, a dark, knowing smile crept onto Akinโs lips. He lowered his fist, stepping back from the trembling captive like a soldier standing at ease for his commander.
Jack, barely able to lift his swollen eyelids, forced his gaze upward toward the expanding wedge of blinding daylight.
Silhouetted against the bright exterior stood a young man, stepping confidently into the dim, grim interior of the warehouse. He appeared to be no older than twenty-five or twenty-six, but his presence immediately altered the atmospheric pressure of the entire room.
He was breathtakingly handsomeโso profoundly striking that he possessed an almost ethereal, innocent beauty capable of making anyone fall captive to his charms at first sight. His features were a flawless masterpiece of nature. To the civilian world, this young man was celebrated as a titan of industry, the sole, enigmatic owner of N.D. Industriesโa global empire built on sheer genius. The public record stated he was an orphan who had conquered the corporate world entirely alone, a fashion icon whose avant-garde wardrobe regularly graced the covers of elite luxury magazines.
But the public only knew the myth. Nilan never revealed to the world the true secrets of his bloodline. More importantly, absolutely no one in polite, legal society knew that his name carried a terrifying, absolute weight in the blood-soaked corridors of the dark world.
In the lawless underworld, this deceptively innocent-looking young man was feared as the "Bloody Beast."
He stood with a tall, commanding stature, his broad shoulders easily carrying the weight of his dark empire. His rich brown hair was styled in a striking, modern mullet-cut wolf tail that cascaded loosely past his shoulders, framing his flawless, fair complexion in a way that blended raw masculinity with an artistic, rebellious elegance.
Yet, only his rarest, closest associates knew the deepest, most carefully guarded secret behind his eyes: Nilan possessed multi-colored heterochromia.
When consumed by an absolute, murderous rage, his irises would shift into a piercing, predatory red. In his normal, resting state, they remained a cool, calculating, and detached grey. Apart from these two prominent shades, his eyes possessed secret colors known only to his pastโshifting to sapphire blue in rare moments of genuine joy, or emerald green in deep sorrow. It was a divine marvel reflecting the true state of his heart, though Nilan was highly skilled at masking his emotions behind a facade of stone.
Yet, there remained one final, mysterious color hidden deep within his eyesโa dormant shade destined to appear only when someone truly special entered his life to claim his soul.
Dressed in tailored black denim jeans that accentuated his long legs, a crisp white shirt unbuttoned slightly at the collar, and a sleek black leather jacket, Nilan walked with an arrogant, immensely powerful stride. The heavy soles of his designer boots clicked rhythmically against the concrete floor, sounding like the ticking of a death clock to Jack's ears.
He walked straight toward the bloody captive, completely ignoring the filth of the environment, and smoothly sat on a wooden chair placed directly opposite Jack. He confidently crossed one leg over the other, leaning back with the casual grace of a king seating himself upon a throne.
Confused, hyperventilating, and utterly terrified by the aura of this newcomer, Jack shot a frantic, questioning look at Tawan and Akin, silently begging to know who this elegant authority figure was.
Seeing the sheer confusion in the dying man's eyes, Akin let out a dark, mocking laugh. He leaned down slightly, revealing the truth in a venomous whisper:
"He is the Bloody Beast."
At those five words, the remaining color drained entirely from Jackโs face, leaving him a ghostly, trembling pale. A suffocating wave of horror washed over him as his mind violently connected the pieces. He instantly recognized the young man sitting before him.
This was the exact same person Jack had crossed paths with just two days ago in Malaysia. He vividly remembered seeing this very man praying peacefully, head bowed in serene devotion, at the sacred Thean Hou Temple.
Jack had heard the horrific, whispered legends of the underworld about the "Bloody Beast"โa man who looked completely innocent and pious, but who was secretly the ultimate agent of chaos. He worshipped Buddha with genuine devotion, yet in the dark world, he was a ruthless monster who showed absolutely no mercy to his enemies. He lived his life on a razor's edge, completely, terrifyingly devoid of the fear of death. And if the Bloody Beast ever showed his physical face to an enemy, it was an absolute guarantee of certain death.
As Jack sat frozen, paralyzed by the realization that he was looking into the face of his executioner, Nilanโs cold, commanding voice broke the silence of the warehouse. The tone was smooth, yet it carried the sharp edge of a blade.
"I am the lion whose roar makes the entire world tremble," Nilan spoke, his cool grey eyes locking onto Jackโs trembling form. "No one dares to take me lightly, and no one makes the mistake of fanning the flames of my anger. But by refusing to confess to my men, you have made that exact, fatal mistake."
Nilan leaned forward slightly, the authority in his posture suffocating. "Nevertheless... I am a man of order. I will give you one final chance to rectify your stupidity. Tell me... did you, or did you not, smuggle innocent children from Thailand?"
The sheer, oppressive weight of Nilan's looming presence pressed down on Jack like a physical force. Looking into those cold grey eyes, Jack knew with absolute certainty that any further lies would result in unimaginable agony. Terrified to his very core, Jack vigorously and desperately nodded his head, tears of fright mixing with the blood on his cheeks.
"Where have you hidden them?" Nilan fired his next question with lethal precision.
"The children... the children are being held at the Kiara Hills location! I swear, that's where they are!" Jack blurted out the information immediately, his voice cracking with panic, believing that cooperation might buy him a sliver of mercy.
Hearing the definitive answer, Nilanโs expression didn't change, but he gave a subtle, almost imperceptible nod toward Tawan.
Understanding the silent signal instantly, Tawan reached into his vest and handed a small, matte-black glass bottle over to Nilan. Without giving Jack a single second to beg for his life, Nilan moved with lightning speed. He gripped Jackโs jaw with a hand of steel, forcing his mouth open, and poured the entire, volatile contents of the black bottle straight down Jackโs throat.
The reaction was instantaneous and horrific. The moment the specialized, highly concentrated liquid emptied into his mouth, agonizing, blistering chemical burns erupted violently across Jack's face and neck. He tried to scream, but the sound was choked out as his veins and arteries literally dissolved from the inside out under the corrosive power of the chemical.
Within seconds, Jack slumped forward in his bonds, completely lifeless.
Nilan stood up smoothly, completely unbothered by the horrific act he had just committed. He turned and walked out of the heavy warehouse doors, stepping into the humid afternoon air.
Inside, Akin looked down at the gruesome testament to their boss's wrath, a dark, grim smile touching his lips. "Still using the signature acid, I see," he remarked, looking over at Tawan.
Tawan chuckled darkly, a cold, amused sound that echoed off the metal walls as he tucked his hands into his pockets. "The Beast likes it clean, absolute, and undeniably lethal. Let's go."
Outside, Nilan stood in the open air, taking a slow, measured breath. His eyes, which had flared with a dangerous sharpness during the kill, had already shifted completely back to their calm, cold, and detached grey state. He checked his luxury wristwatch. The business in Malaysia was concluded; his extraction teams would recover the children from Kiara Hills shortly.
Heading straight to the private terminal of the airport with Akin and Tawan by his side, Nilan prepared for his scheduled flight. He was traveling to Thailand on an extremely secretive, deeply personal, and important mission.
As the private jet engines roared to life against the tarmac, Nilan stared out the window at the receding horizon, completely unaware that the wheels of destiny had already begun to turn. He had no idea that his structured, cold, and controlled life was about to alter its course forever the very moment his boots touched the ground in Thailand.
