FIRST MEETING
On a heavy rainy summer day, a girl called Narida with short black hair was riding her bicycle in the empty street after buying some food for her family.
She saw a boy with black wavy hair and pale skin on the street. Narida quickly went to check the cat and said,
“Hi, my name is Narida. Is this your cat?”
The boy looked at her so confused, like it was the first time he met a human.
“Yes... no, I mean, I found her here, so I took her to check her health.”
She replied, trying to hide a laugh,
“Come on, let’s take her to a vet. She may be ill.”
The boy agreed.
Narida rode the bike while the guy stood with the wet cat in his hands and sat on the back of the bike to go to the vet.
He gave her a few looks and stole some glances at Narida.
Then he said under his breath,
“This girl acts like an energetic brave cat.”
The rain stopped and there was only the cat breaking the silence.
“Oh, I forgot to ask you. What’s your name?”
The boy looked at her from the back.
“My name is Minji Kua, and they call me Jake.”
“Here we go, Jake. This is the vet. Let’s go. Bring the cat with you.”
After getting out of the vet, Jake said,
“Narida, I’m going to take the cat with me.”
Narida smiled and said,
“Yes. Let’s call her Nabi.”
“Can you give me your WeChat so that we can talk? Let’s meet again because I should check on the cat.”
Jake gave her his phone while his hand was trembling.
Then he said,
“We’re friends now, right?”
Narida said with a bright smile,
“Yes, for sure.”
“It’s late. Thank you so much for helping Nabi.”
When Jake got back home, he sent a message.
“Hi Narida, it’s me, Jake. These are some photos of Nabi after the shower.”
Narida was so happy. The cat looked so cute with white fur and fluffy green eyes.
So she replied with a voice message,
“Oh my God, it’s so cute! Don’t forget to take care of her. She is our cat.”
Jake listened to the voice message with a warm smile.
Then he stopped typing, erased what he wrote, and started playing with the cat.
That evening, Narida got a call from her best friend, Teisida.
She was a girl with long black doll-like hair and blue eyes.
Then Teisida said,
“How are you, Narida?”
Narida replied,
“Girl, I’m feeling bored, but today I met a friend. His name is Jake.”
Teisida said,
“No way, really? How?”
Narida said,
“It’s a long story. I’ll tell you when we meet tomorrow.”
Teisida said,
“Yes, at the Summer Festival. I can’t wait to start singing.”
Narida said,
“I’m excited for you, bestie. I can’t wait to see you singing.”
Teisida said,
“Okay, now bye-bye. Have a good night.”
Narida said,
“Bye-bye.”
It’s morning.
Teisida looked so iconic. She was wearing a simple summer dress, but she still looked so beautiful.
Narida was wearing casual baggy summer shorts and an oversized T-shirt. She still looked good, by the way.
When Teisida went onto the stage, Narida started recording her on a live stream.
But suddenly, no one was looking at the stage.
They were all around a very famous swimmer called Siwu.
Girls and boys were around him, talking and laughing.
Teisida was stressed, but Narida looked at her and said,
“Girl, go sing that song. Go, go sing it.”
Teisida gave her a smile and started singing with a big smile.
Little by little, people started ignoring Siwu and listening to her voice.
Time by time, more people started listening to her voice and getting lost in it.
They all started singing and feeling happy.
Siwu gave her a look as if he was trying to convince himself that her voice wasn’t good.
But it ended in a very good way.
Teisida became a little famous.
Narida kept making jokes sometimes and checking on Nabi.
Siwu was still the iconic famous swimmer.
