The call
Ayano Hara was a five-year-old girl living a happy and peaceful life with her parents in Japan.
Her small family was warm, loving, and full of happiness.
But one phone call changed everything.
Ring… Ring…
Ayano’s father picked up the phone.
“Hello, this is Koji Hara
speaking.
”
A cheerful voice replied from the other side.
“Koji! It’s me, Arata.”
Koji smiled lightly.
“Arata? It’s been a long time.”
“Yeah, man,” Arata laughed. “Don’t think I forgot about my best friend. I’ve just been really busy lately.”
“Busy enough to disappear for months?” Koji joked.
“Come on, you know how work is,” Arata replied. “
Anyway, I called for a reason.”
Koji sat down quietly.
“So, what is it?”
There was a short silence before Arata spoke again.
“I found a huge job opportunity for you in the US.”
Koji’s expression changed slightly.
“The US?”
“Yeah,” Arata continued. “The salary is incredible. Much better than your current job. It could give your daughter a very bright future.”
Koji stayed silent for a moment.
“But there’s one condition,” Arata said seriously.
“You and your wife would need to move here immediately.”
Koji frowned.
“What about Ayano?”
Arata sighed softly.
“It’s better if she stays in Japan for now. You can leave her with a caretaker until you settle down properly.”
Koji’s heart felt heavy.
“But… how can we live without our daughter?”
“If you truly want to secure her future,” Arata said quietly,
“then you may have to make this sacrifice.”
Koji looked toward little Ayano, who was innocently drawing in the corner of the room,
completely unaware that her life was about to change forever.
