Battery fully charged
The bass hit her bones before she even walked through the door. Nyxara liked it that way.
She bypassed the bouncer without a glance, her leather skirt riding high and her crop top cutting sharp lines against her skin. She didn't need to look back to know Marcus's eyes were locked on her. They always were.
Her hips knew what they were doing.
"You're late," Sienna called from behind the bar, polishing a glass without looking up.
"I'm never late," Nyxara replied, sliding onto a barstool. "The night just starts when I arrive."
Sienna finally looked up, rolling her eyes, though the corner of her mouth betrayed her. "Table four has been asking for you."
Nyxara glanced over. Middle-aged, expensive watch, a gold wedding band catching the dim light like a small, desperate beacon. His wife was probably home waiting, maybe even worrying.
She smiled slowly. Perfect.
She felt no guilt, not even a flicker. Guilt was a human invention, and while she wore humanity like a second skin, some things simply didn't take. Morality was one of them.
She slid off the stool, letting her fingers trail across the shoulder of the man sitting next to her, a stranger, touched simply because she could. He stiffened beneath her fingers. She didn't look back.
Every step toward table four was deliberate. Her movement wasn't a performance honed in front of mirrors; it was instinctual, heavy with a quiet, magnetic gravity. Natural. Inevitable. The kind of thing that turned heads without effort.
A few turned now. They always did.
The man at table four looked up while she was still paces away, as if his instincts warned him before his eyes did. She watched his posture shift, the sudden straightening of his spine, the way he set down his whiskey glass with fragile care. His eyes swept over her. They caught first on her mismatched eyes, one a sharp blue, the other a bottomless, impossible black, before dropping, helplessly.
She let him look.
"Hi," she said when she reached him, her voice a low purr like smoke curling in warm air. She tilted her head, holding his gaze. "I heard you were looking for me."
He blinked. "I... yes." He cleared his throat, the gold band catching the light again. "I wanted a private dance."
She leaned in close, one hand resting on the table between them. She brought the scent of smoked vanilla and black rose with her, a sweet clinging perfume she knew would linger on his skin for hours. A quiet ruin left behind.
"Then it's your lucky night," she said.
She led him toward the back rooms without hurry, moving as if time belonged to her and he was merely allowed to occupy it. She could feel his gaze heavy on her lower back, dropping to her hips, then snapping up guiltily whenever she glanced over her shoulder.
She almost laughed.
The private room was small and dim, red light bleeding from a strip along the ceiling, a single chair positioned in the center. She had always liked this space. Here, the rules, the pace, and the control were entirely hers.
She gestured to the chair. He sat.
The muffled bass from the main floor filtered through the walls, a steady, pulsing rhythm. Nyxara reached up, pulling the pins from her hair and letting the dark waves fall around her shoulders. She watched his throat bob as he swallowed.
There it is.
She didn't waste a second. Her fingers flew to the clasp of her skirt, the leather falling away to pool at her ankles like shed silk. Under the pulsing red neon, her body was a landscape of pale curves and dangerous intent. She shed the crop top with a fluid motion, letting it drop, her movements measured and slow, designed to torture.
She watched his eyes. He was watching her, his pupils blown wide, his jaw working as he swallowed hard, a desperate, mechanical twitch of his throat. He was shaking, barely holding onto the armrests, his gaze trapped by the hypnotic, predatory sway of her hips that seemed to defy the music.
She stepped closer, her heels silent against the floor. She reached for him, her fingers nimble as they made quick work of his belt and buttons. She could feel the heat emanating from him, the frantic thrum of his pulse beneath her fingertips. He was already painfully hard, straining against the fabric, his need pulsing between them like a physical force.
When she finally stripped him bare, she didn't give him a moment to catch his breath. Her hand closed around him, firm and knowing, feeling the heavy, impatient throb of his desire. She pushed him back into the chair, her gaze locking with his as she lowered herself onto him.
Suddenly, the silence of the room was shattered by a sharp, persistent vibration. His phone, lying on the small table nearby, lit up with the flashing name: WIFE.
Nyxara didn't miss a beat. She reached out, her fingers dancing toward the device, and silenced the screen before tossing it face-down onto the floor. She leaned in, her lips grazing his ear, her tongue tracing the shell of it with a slow, calculated heat.
"You're mine," she whispered, her voice a low, dangerous hum.
He shuddered violently beneath her, his eyes rolling back as he gasped out, "Only yours."
She smirked, a dark, satisfied expression that didn't reach her eyes, and began to move again. She rolled her hips against him, a relentless, grinding cadence that pushed him toward the edge. She felt his body begin to pulse inside her, a sudden contraction of pure, stolen vitality that surged through her veins like liquid fire.
The connection was immediate, a rush of raw, electric power that saturated her system. She took what he had, feeling his energy bloom and then wither, siphoned off completely into her own bloodstream until he was nothing more than a hollow shell beneath her.
Moments later, she stepped away, leaving him slumped and breathless in the chair. As she slipped back into her clothes, she let out a low, mocking chuckle.
"Battery fully charged," she murmured, sliding her tongue over her lips to catch the lingering taste of his stolen essence.
It should have felt like victory. Instead, it just felt like routine.
