Chapter 1

"Hey miss, are you okay?"

I hear a male voice saying next to me. I'm not sure if the voice is addressing me or if this is just a dream that I still haven't woke up from yet. I flutter my eyes open. The position in which I'm sleeping isn't comfortable, I have to say it's feeling really hard rather than soft. I turn my head to the side to look around myself. It's dark. Only a few street lights around me give me the ability to see. I stare at the person speaking and I'm surprised to see that it is a guy, he looks around my age, he's wearing some blue jeans with a black leather jacket and he has dark brown curly hair, he looks like he could drive a motorcycle. I wonder if he does. Then I spot a car parked not far away from us so that eliminates the possibility.

It's hard to see but his eyes seem to be dark brown color, which are also filled with concern and worry. This confuses me, he's looking straight at me so am I the one he's concerned about? But why is he worried?

I don't answer him I just keep staring at those eyes until he decides to break the silence.

"Do you want so I called the police?" He asks phone already in his hands.

Why would I need police? I wonder to myself. Did I do something illegal while I was just normal sleeping? Who even is this guy? And why the fuck is he here?...And why the fuck am I here?

I look around myself and suddenly notice that I'm laying on a dirty metal bench in a bus station that might as well be isolated for god knows how long, next to us is a road and around us everything is surrounded by trees. A lot of trees. Woods. Why am I in the woods? Wasn't I supposed to be at a party?

A sharp pain in my head hits me, I wince as I clutch my head and look at the guy again as if he will have the answers to my questions. He looks tall from down here. I realized he's still waiting for an answer from me.

"Where am I?" I ask ignoring his question and instead asking mine.

"Some bus station in the woods." He says relived that I could speak "do you want so I called someone?"

I don't answer and instead struggle to sit up on the bench rubbing my eyes with my hands. The dress I didn't realize I was wearing was sticking to my body with sweat and for some reason dirt. I was also wearing high heels but they also had dirt all over them including some scratches. Not really a good outfit for the situation. Now I see why this dude is concerned about me. I might as well be a wreckage left on the side of the highway.

The guy is still staring at me as he's waiting for me to say something or give me a sign that I'm okay or something I'm guessing. I don't even know if I'm ok or not. I do know that I don't feel okay.

"Who are you?" I finally ask him.

"My name is Grayson. I was driving and found you laying here" he says slowly "are you feeling okay? I can call someone if you'd like" he repeats.

I stare at him for a moment then I smile and chuckle because for some fucking reason this situation sounds hilarious in my stupid mind. It doesn't. It really doesn't.

Im drunk.

My stomach all of a sudden flips hard and the feeling of vomit fills my mouth before I could even lean over the edge of the bench everything started coming out of my mouth as I threw up on the ground. I cough out everything I didn't know I had in my body.

The guy stares in shock not aware of what to do. I chuckle again for no reason as if that was so funny. When I'm done I tilt my head up and look at him and smile as if I didn't just throw up all over the ground next to us. Dang I'm probably freaking him out right now. It would be kind of disappointing if he left, he does look kinda hot, but I won't be surprised if he just walked away and abandoned me right now. I honestly probably would too. Can't really blame him.

He doesn't walk away or abandon me like I guessed, instead types something on his phone that was already in his hands and places it to his ear. I hear a small ring coming from it. Then a dispatchers voice on the phone.

"911 what's you're emergency?"

A while later

"Full name please" the male officer asks as he looks me over with his solider like eyes.

The police cars are lined up near the trees the dark night turning into a colorful red and blue parade, but parades are suppose to be fun but this feels confusing and lowkey frightening. I'm standing with my back against the wall of the bus station booth facing the police men, my hands are not hand cuffed since I'm assuming Grayson called the police to help me and not send me to jail. I'm trying not to fall or lose balance from my high alcohol overdue. I spot Grayson talking to a female police officer farther away from us. His mouth is moving a lot. He's explaining the situation I'm guessing.

"Grace Meadows" I say softly.

The officer writes down in his small notebook he's carrying in his hands with a pen then he faces me again. I'm looking at the floor hoping my eyes won't close in the middle of the conversation. I'm feeling exhausted and really plastered.

"Grace, can you please tell us how you got here in this isolated area at 2 am by yourself? Did someone abandoned you?"

I don't feel like talking to him or anyone right now, my head is killing me and my mouth is begging for water after all the throwing up. I try to ignore multiple pains in my body and try to remember while at the same time trying to act normal around the police.

"I don't remember" I say simply.

He gazes at me in confusion as if he doesn't understand my simple answer "you don't remember?" He repeats.

I nod.

He goes quiet for a second "do you have any memory of being drugged or perhaps abused by someone? Is that why you ended up here?"

I close my eyes and shake my head.

"I really need you to tell me something miss or else we can't help you"

I didn't want to be helped. I just wanted to be left alone.

"I was at a party" I respond.

He blinks at me "sorry?".

"I was at a party" I repeat trying to remember "with my best friend. It was a party that some students from my school gathered up to celebrate our senior year, we were having a good time and then I don't know, I guess we got separated or something"

He writes this down in the notebook. And I have a sudden urge to shove the notebook away from him and throw it. Holy intrusive thoughts.

"Do you recall doing anything at the party that might have led to you being here? Perhaps being drugged or maybe kidnapped?"

"No" I say coldly

"Alright. Were you drinking?"

I pause. I don't drink much. I usually don't at least.

"Yes" I admit "I had a few drinks" trying to remember the night.

"Were you driving?"

"...I don't have a car"

He finishes writing everything down and then he signals something to another cop in the distance. The bright lights from the cars are making me dizzy.

"Anything else we should know?" He asks turning to me.

I shake my head in response, cuz I'm too tired to speak or answer any more fucking questions.

"Do you have a parent or guardian that we can contact for you so they could pick you up? Or would you like so we took you to the station?"

I shake my head and give him my mom's number. The officer writes it down then tells me to wait here while he makes the call, then walks away towards the others leaving me standing alone. I feel like shit. I sit down on the ground and watch as the light flicker from red to blue and reflect through the trees from the cars. I close my eyes just for a second, wishing I could get away from the scene and rather be safe in my bed at home.

"Miss" I hear the police man say after a few minutes. His voice jurkes me awake.

"We called your mother she will be here soon"

I nod as I proceed not moving a muscle and staring into blankness trying my best not to throw up again.

As I wait for my mom to drive here I imagine how she would react to seeing her disappointment of a daughter sitting on the ground completely plastered and looking like a discarded piece of trash left out on the curb. I might as well plan my funeral already.

After about 15 minutes a car pulls up and my worried mother gets out of the car a loud slamming of the door ringing in my ears as she makes her way towards me her face in tears as if she was just sobbing in the car a second before arriving. She comes running to me and hugs me tightly her whole body tense.

"Where the hell were you?! I was worried sick!" She cries breaking the hug to look at me "I tried calling you but you're phone went straight to voicemail! I thought you were fucking dead Grace! What were you thinking?!"

I'm surprised to hear my mother cursing this much but I can tell she's pissed with me and I can't really blame her.

"I'm fine...mom" I manage to say.

She cups her face in her hands "You look like you can barely even sit up straight! You are the complete opposite of fine. Come on, stand up"

I slowly stand up wobbling a little. As we walk towards the cars my heels get slightly stuck on the grass. The officer walks over to us.

"Can I see your driver's license or photo ID before I can let you take her, ma'am".

She sighs as she reaches into her purse taking out some ID verification. The officer scans it with his flashlight checking for it to be valid.

"Are you taking full responsibility for her tonight?" He asks after a few moments.

"Obviously. That is why I drove out here at two in the morning" she says with a sigh.

"Fair enough" he gave her back the ID "you're good to go ma'am, have a safe night"

"Thank you" she says as she motions me to the get in the car.

I walk over to the car and open the back seat slamming the door too loudly by accident . I plummeted into the seat and rested my head on the window struggling to take off my heels and dropping them on the floor of the car.

After a moment mom came into the car as she stared the engine and we backed away into the road.

The silence felt haunting and too quiet for a long time. After about ten minutes I decide to break the silence.

"Mom I'm-" I begin

"We will discuss this in the morning" she snaps "when you can no longer be drunk and finally come to you're senses, for now not a word from you"

I sigh, pressing my forehead against the cold glass of the window, closing my eyes. Big mistake. The darkness inside my eyelids made the car feel like it was tumbling down a hill and that made me even more sick. I opened them quickly instead staring at the dark trees that roamed overhead. Every time we hit a bump or a sharp turn, my stomach violently rolled and I preyed that I won't throw up on my mom's car seats. As if I didn't get yelled enough today.

The freezing cold window glass pressed against my forehead was slowly waking me up, and for the first time tonight, I wished I was still unconscious so I didn't need to face the dread and the pain.
