Chapter One; Two Months Before
BBC-Breaking News; A woman in her early twenties was found dead in her dorm room, there’s no information on her death other than she had just entered her room minutes before. The body was identified as Ashley Grace Gold. If you have any information on this, please report it and call the number below. The channel carried on in a blur. A bottle hit the floor, not loudly, just a bit of noise. Enough to wake the lady who was reclining in her chair, drifting into a haze of unconsciousness. She jumped up a little, startled by the noise, saw the bottle and got up. Instead of picking up the glass, she went upstairs to her room and lay down to sleep. She slept until a loud knocking on her front door woke her. She tried to ignore it until she couldn’t. She went downstairs and opened the door. It was raining heavily outside. “Laine?” a man asked, clearly upset but concerned for her. She raised her eyebrows, a bit confused. “Anthony? What’re you doing here?” she asked, her words a bit slurred. Her blue eyes glanced at the weather outside. “I’m here because Ashl- Are you bloody drunk?” His sentence changed immediately. “What?” she asked, “Do you know where Ashley is at the moment?” Anthony asked, questioning her. “She’s probably asleep at the university,” Laine replied, “Why?” she then asked. Anthony sighed and shook his head. “No reason, nothing. Let’s get you to bed, mm?” Anthony walked past her, going into her house. She closed the door behind her. “I want a glass of water first. I would be asleep right now if someone hadn’t woken me up,” Laine replied, snarky. “Christ’s sake, my bad. I didn’t know you were asleep” – “Mhmm, sure mate” Laine then sassed. Anthony then gave her a glare. Laine ignored his face and went to the kitchen. Anthony followed, supervising. She turned on the tap and poured herself a glass. “You’ve got your water, time to go to bed” Anthony urged. Laine did so, went back upstairs and entered her room. “AND DON’T STAY UP, ACTUALLY SLEEP.” Anthony shouted loud enough for her to hear. “KISS ARSE!” she shouted back. Anthony shook his head. “JUST SLEEP!” he shouted back. He walked into the lounge, then stopped right before the mess left on the floor. He sighed once more, returned to the kitchen, grabbed a broom and swept up the mess of glass. After that, he sat on the sofa and watched a channel he found interesting.
