Chapter 1: The Night I Died
Snow was falling the night I died.
It was ..soft ... gentle... silent
Exactly the opposite of the life I lived .
I remember the cold first.
Then the darkness and then – nothing
When I opened my eyes again. I was lying on a velvet bed in a room I had only ever seen on a page.
A chandelier glittered above me.
A fire crackled beside me . And in the mirror across the room…wasn’t my face.
It was hers.
Aveline Valestra.
The villainess I used to fear, The girl everyone hated .
The girl destined to die in the story’s winter arc.
Panic rushed through me – followed by something heavier. Something terrifying.
Footsteps.. Slow.. Sharp.. Cold.
He stepped into the doorway like a shadow made real- the male lead of the novel.
The man who was supposed to destroy the villainess .
But instead of hatred…his eyes locked onto me with something else.
Something intense.. Something unreliable.. Something that made my heartbeat shake.
‘ You’re awake ‘. he said slowly . stepping closer.
‘ Good I was starting to think I’d lost you ‘.
Lost… me ?
My breath caught as he stopped inches from my bed , snow still clinging to his dark coat.
This wasn’t the scene from the novel.. This was’t how our story was supposed to start.
Something had changed and so had he.
This time… the villainess would’t die.
Not if I could stop it .
Not this life.
Not in this winter.
Chapter 2 – A New Beginning In A New World
Aveline’s Pov
My knowledge of the novel made me realize the male lead who was standing in front her wasn’t acting according to the novel but differently , it felt like the novel had changed it’s course.
He was supposed to be cold and vicious towards me but this was all replaced by an emotion I could’t quite understand.
Just then a man whose aura gave me a cold dark chill whispered something to him.
Damien Moretti .
That was his name, the main lead.
The most powerful mafia whom no one dared to offend with violence being the only solution he had to any unwanted problems .
‘ Aveline , I need to attend to some urgent matter . I will someone to attend to you , I will be back soon ‘
He said to me but I didn’t respond, there was an unusual warmth in his tone .
Something wasn’t right .
Everything was out of place.
But Why ?
This I needed to find out.
I had waited for some time for the person said to attend to me but no one came so I decided to explore.
I walked bare footed on the icy floor , I started going down the stairs dragging my tired body only for me to slip Just as I closed my eyes embracing myself for the pain I was about to feel But surprisingly the pain nor the fall never came .
I slightly opened my eyes only to find myself in Damien’s arms , he had caught me, preventing me from falling.
I expected him to help me stand on my feet so I could proceed downstairs but instead he swooped me fully in his arms, carrying me downstairs . He made me sit on the sofa then he sat beside me , he smiled at me which caught me by surprise but then it shifted as he called out to all the staffs .
They all came immediately aligning their selves in order , their heads lowered as non dared to meet his gaze.
‘ Who was assigned to attend to my Aveline ‘
His tone was cold and sharp, sending chills down their spines. I froze ,he had just claimed me as his .
Everyone pointed to a particular maid who went pale with fear and horror visible in her eyes , she began to beg , pleading for mercy but Damien’s face only went dark , the maid was dragged away in tears.
He turns to me and insists I shouldn’t walk alone in the hallways.
After a heartfelt dinner I retired to my room with Damien’s help as I was still weak.
I touched my face slowly walking to the mirror ,looking at my new reflection I examined my new face .
I stroke my new long black hair , it felt soft . In my past life my hair could never be this long shiny and well cared for. My new reflection filled me with mixed emotions.
I looked through the villainess whom I now was belongings ,I came across a pierce of clothing which had a unique crest engraved on it and just then floods of memories came rushing , they were all the villainess memories .
I collapsed on the bed as the flashbacks ended with a sigh I realized the villainess wasn’t actually born a villain but was painted and forced into being a villainess by the cruel world . In my past life there was now hope nor did I have any choice but in this life I would make sure I do everything possible to make good use of my second chance and avoid dying the second time.
I slept with this decision which seemed more like a challenge in mind.
I woke up the next day with lights glowing through my window , I freshened up with the help of a few maids then headed downstairs with a guard following closely .
I ate my breakfast alone silently with no Damien in sight , once I was done a maid came in and started clearing the dishes then I said with gratitude and asked ;
‘ Thanks!, Hnmm , Have you seen Damien today? ‘
‘ Yes ma, He left early this morning ‘ She replied
‘ Oh okay ‘ I said , for some reason I felt a bit saddened . The maid left with the plates and later came back with an envelope that seemed to contain a letter , she handed it to me and said
‘ Ma this came in for u ‘
She handed the items to me and left , sitting by the fire she decided to open the envelope first , I unfolded the letter and its contents left me horrified , it read;
‘ Why are you pretending to be her?
With fear I intensively threw the letter into the fire

And so had he.
This time…
the villain wouldn’t die.
Not if I could stop it.
Not in this life.
Not in this winter.

I really like stories that take place in cold weather or in the snow.😍✍️
