Chapter 1 : The DREAM
Chapter 1: The Dream
Maya was seventeen years old. She lived with her family in a small apartment and often worried about the future. She dreamed of helping her parents and earning her own money, but she did not know where to start.
One afternoon, while helping her mother in the kitchen, she baked a tray of brownies. The sweet smell filled the room. When she tasted one, she thought, "Maybe I could sell these."
It was only an idea, but the idea stayed in her mind.
For the next few days, Maya planned carefully. She saved a little money, bought ingredients, and searched for small boxes to package the brownies. She wanted them to look special.
Then she had another idea.
Instead of simply selling brownies, she would include a handwritten thank-you card in every box.
On the first card, she wrote:
"Thank you for supporting my small dream. I hope something good happens to you today."
She smiled when she finished writing it.
The following weekend, Maya made her first batch. She was nervous as she packed each brownie into a box and added the cards.
At first, sales were slow.
Some people walked past without stopping. Others said they were not interested. A few people looked at the brownies but decided not to buy them.
Maya felt disappointed.
For a moment, she wondered if she should quit.
But that evening, her mother said, "Every successful person starts somewhere. Don't give up after one day."
Those words stayed with Maya.
The next weekend, she tried again.
This time, a woman bought a box. A few hours later, the woman returned.
"The brownies were delicious," she said. "But do you know what I liked most?"
Maya shook her head.
"The card. I was having a difficult day, and your message made me smile."
Maya felt happy.
Soon, more customers began returning. Some bought brownies for themselves. Others bought them as gifts.
Many people talked about the cards.
Each week, Maya wrote different messages:
"Believe in yourself."
"Small steps can lead to big dreams."
"Be kind whenever you can."
"You are stronger than you think."
Customers started collecting the cards.
Months passed.
Maya learned how to manage money, improve her recipes, and organize orders. She made mistakes along the way. Sometimes brownies burned in the oven. Sometimes ingredients cost more than expected.
But she kept learning.
One rainy afternoon, a man visited her stand.
He looked at the brownies and smiled.
"I've heard about these," he said.
"Really?" Maya asked.
"Yes. My daughter received one of your cards from a friend. She was struggling with school and felt discouraged. Your message helped her."
Maya was surprised.
She had never imagined that a few simple words could affect someone's life.
That evening, she thought about all the cards she had written.
Maybe success was not only about money.
Maybe it was also about helping people.
Then suddenly—
"Maya! Wake up!"
Her eyes slowly opened.
The bakery disappeared.
The customers disappeared.
She was back in her small bedroom.
For a few moments, she sat quietly and thought about the dream.
Most people would say it was only a dream.
But Maya believed it was more than that.
She looked out the window and smiled.
"One day," she whispered, "that bakery will be real."
She knew she did not have the money yet.
She knew the journey would be difficult.
But she also knew that dreams do not stay dreams forever when a person works hard for them.
Maya closed her eyes for a moment and imagined the bakery again.
Then she opened her eyes and said,
"One day I will have enough money to open that store. And when that day comes, I will remember this dream."
With hope in her heart and determination in her mind, Maya smiled.
The future was waiting for her.
And somewhere deep inside, she knew this was only the beginning
