Prologue
We met at a BPO company I applied for right after I resigned from my previous job. I had to leave because of my health condition — may sakit kasi ako noon, and it reached a point where I wasn’t comfortable working there anymore.
Rhica and Carly, my former teammates from my old company, were the ones who got reassigned here first, before I even decided to apply. That’s partly why I considered this place, too.
During the NHO, I just listened to everything the HR team discussed. Nag-lunch break ako with Rhica and Carly, and joined a few small activities as well.
When it was time to submit our pre-employment requirements, nakikipagkwentuhan lang kami nang biglang may lalaking lumapit sa amin. Naka-green polo shirt siya that time.
“VKAM ka? VKAM?” he asked.
“Yes. Ikaw?” sagot ko.
“Yes. Anyway, familiar ka sa location?” tanong niya ulit.
“No.” maikli lang ang sagot ko.
Sumingit naman agad si Rhica, “Ano yung V sa VKAM? Voice?”
“Yes, voice.” mabilis niyang sagot.
Nanlumo ako agad nung narinig ko ‘yun. Ang hanap ko kasi talaga ay chat support lang, pero heto na naman — parang mapupunta na naman ako sa voice account.
After the NHO, hindi ko na siya nakita ulit. Then came the first day of training. Siya yung pangatlo sa pinakamaagang dumating, pero since hindi ko masyadong namukhaan o tiningnan nang maigi si Drey, hindi ko narealize na siya pala ‘yung kausap ko noon.
It took months bago ko malaman — na yung simpleng estrangherong ‘yon, siya ang magiging malaking bahagi ng buhay ko.
