Chapter I .- "The recognition"

Due to adisease, the vast majority of omegas in the world had died, leading alphas todespair for females and offspring; there were wars between packs, extinctionwas inevitable.

Some packsjoined forces, forming alliances for resources and protection. This was thecase with six semi-nomadic packs from the Carpathian region, who came togetherto search for the last omega that might still be alive. They scoured every inchof the region until the packs found her refuge in the mountains.

The six topalphas— Adam, Mayson, Nolan, Aron, Raven, and Fyre— stare at her in surprise.Along with many other lower-ranking alphas, one of them speaks, breaking thesilence: “The last omega!...”

Adam stepsforward, his deep voice echoing off the mountain as he addresses the otheralphas . "Silence! We've found her." His golden eyes fix on the smallfigure, observing it with a mixture of surprise and hope.

Maysongrowled softly, his imposing figure tense with excitement. "Finally...after so many years." His gaze swept over the omega's body, assessingevery detail with an almost predatory intensity.

Nolan, calmer but just as determined, adds: "We can't let her get away. She's ouronly chance."

Fyre, hissilver hair gleaming in the morning sunlight, clenches his fists at his sides."We've waited a long time for this moment," he says, his voice huskywith anticipation.

Raven, the mostreserved alpha in the group, keeps his distance, but his dark eyes never leaveher. "We need to make sure she's... fit," he remarks in a clinicaltone that barely masks his curiosity.

Aron, the quietestalpha, watches the group with restrained excitement as he shifts his gaze tothe omega's figure in the distance.

Stealthilyand cautiously, Adam slowly approaches, ignoring the protests of the otheralphas . He extends a hand toward the omega, palm up in a gesture of peace."Calm down, don't be afraid, we don't intend to hurt you," he assuresher with an unexpected gentleness in his deep voice. "We just want to talkto you."

The omega, who was gathering plants at the foot of the mountain, stands up abruptly, surprised to find herself discovered.

“ Talkabout what?” the omega asks, slowly backing away, looking to escape, ifnecessary, her heart beating like a war drum, as she glances over the alphasbehind Adam.

Adam keepshis hand outstretched, looking at her with a gentle expression. "Of our future..." he replies in a velvety voice, slowly advancing to close thedistance between them.

“Our kind are disappearing because there are no omegas left, most of them are dead. Do you know that?... You are the last one.”

Mayson, the second in command, steps forward. "You are vital to our survival."His gaze analyzes each of the omega's movements; he is ready to act if necessary.

Fyre says with a crooked smile on his lips, "Do you really think you can run? Thereare six of us, there's no escape, little omega."

Raven intervenes, trying to ease the growing tension. "We're not monsters. Youcan ask questions; we won't drag you by force." His voice is moderate, but his intense gaze following the omega's every move.

Nolan, in amore relaxed tone, says: “This is unexpected, but you must understand oursituation. We need omegas to procreate and ensure the continuation of the species. You are special.”

Adam keeps his hand outstretched towards the omega, his expression changing to a more tender look as he sees the fear on the omega's face. "We don't want to force you; we want you to understand why you are so important to us."

“I can’t be the last one, what are you talking about?... don’t get closer!” she saysas and backs away further, “I’ve seen what you do to omegas, you trap them, you use them and then you leave them to die.”

Adam lowers his hand slowly. “No, we aren’t wild animals that devour females after using them,” he says with a serenity that erases the gentleness that his face had previously held. “What you saw was the desperation of alphas who couldn’t find omegas and were driven mad by need. We aren’t like that, look at us.”

"So why am I the last one then?" she says, looking at Adam, then scanning therest of the group.

Adam exhales slowly, his expression growing more serious at the omega's direct question. "Because none of them survived the disease that decimated all omegas and fertile females five years ago." His gaze shifts to the otheralphas , signaling for silence. They are visibly uneasy, and that could makethe omega leave.

The other alphas begin to move slowly around the omega, forming a protective circle.

“And what’s the name of the disease? Alphas?” she says ironically, “Go your way and I’ll go mine, I’m not what you’re looking for.” Her heart races, she watches the alphas take their positions, she realizes she’s surrounded, and the chances of escapeare slim.

“It doesn’t have a name; we call it ´The Dusk´,” Adam explains sadly. “The symptoms were high fevers, seizures, extreme fatigue. The illness progressed rapidly; the females were in agony and died within days.” His gaze intensifies as he sees the omega searching for openings to escape. “We can’t continue our journey alone; that will lead us to our extinction.”

" The time comes to us all,” the omega says, her eyes quickly scanning Mayson as she advances, while she retreats. “Don’t get closer…”

Fyre observes the growing despair in the omega and with a mocking tone says,"We could simply wait for your strength to run out." Faced with Fyre's threat, the omega decides to run up the mountain, starting to climb to escape.

The alphas react instantly; they are relentless hunters, their bodies tense, launching themselves into a sprint to catch their prey. “Grab her!” one shouts as they watch her ascend the rocky slope with surprising agility for someone of hersize.

Adam runs alongside her; his protective instinct compels him to stay close. “Be careful, the terrain is treacherous,” he says, showing genuine concern for her safety mixed with the urgency to catch her before she gets hurt while escaping.

The omega runs desperately, climbing, sliding, darting through the bushes, displaying a dexterity that reveals years of experience in these lands. A loose rock makesher stagger near the precipice; Adam grabs her foot, but she escapes, leaping to her feet and running up the mountain.

After three days of pursuit, the alphas seem tireless. The omega clearly doesn't have the same stamina, putting her at a disadvantage. She almost crawls to her main refuge, her lungs burning and her legs trembling from the effort, but the adrenaline keeps her moving . The alphas see her enter the cave. "Damn it! This isn'tright. We're forcing her to flee like cornered animals," one of the alphas says .

“We have no choice, it’s our only hope,” Nolan says.

The alphas enter the cave, finding 2 tunnels, Adam gives the order to divide into 2 groups“Aron and Raven to the left, Fyre you'll come with me, Mayson stay here to watch the entrance in case he decides to escape.

Aron and Raven walk through the tunnel on the left, arriving at a chamber where they find the omega's belongings: a small camp set up with the essentials, arolled-up blanket, a dying fire, an old, dull knife. Finding the area empty, they decide to look through her things. Raven shines his flashlight on one ofthe chamber walls. "Look!" he finds charcoal drawings, a sketch of awolf, portraits of people, and a view from the mountain. "The omega did this?!" Aron exclaims. "She's talented! It's a mural! This should be in a gallery in the city. Look at the details. Did you see the portraits?"Raven nods. "Maybe her family." "She only has old books and no supplies," Aron adds. The alphas exchange glances, finding no food."She probably hasn't eaten in days," a worried expression crosses their faces. "She must be hungry," Raven says, searching for some supplies in his backpack. Meanwhile, Aron says on his communicator, “This is Aron, the tunnel on the left is clear, she’s not here. Anything on your end?”

Adam receives Aron's message, "The tunnel is long, still nothing." Adam and Fyre 's eyes gleam in the darkness of the tunnel like flashlights, adjusting to the darkness. Fyre sniffs the air, "I can smell her, she's close." Adam nods. "I see something at the end, is it water? It mustbe a spring." "There she is!" Fyre continues, "She'sdrinking water, she must be exhausted, it was too much for her."

“Omega,”Adam says in a soft voice, but it echoes through the cavern, “we won’t hurt you, don’t try to run away, I don’t want you to get hurt. Come with us, we can take care of you, give us a chance to show you.”

The omega stood up in one swift motion, her eyes wide opened as she stared at the alphas at the cavern entrance, her heart racing at the sound of Adam's voice. She had no intention of giving in, but she knew she wouldn't get rid of them easily. They were persistent when they wanted something, and they'd convinced themselves that she was their last chance to keep the species alive.

The other alphas join Adam and Fyre in the spring cave, “They found her! On the other side there are only her things, but no food, she must be hungry,” says Aron.

“You mustbe hungry, we have supplies, eat some,” they throw her a small bag with dried meat, nuts and berries. “Everything is clean, please eat.” Raven says, worried about her health after not having eaten for three days while escaping from them.

The omega remains in place, her legs trembling, barely able to stand. She hesitates, but hunger compels her to reach for the bag they threw at her. She takes it in her small hands, her eyes fixed on them. They say nothing, but the alphas feel asurge of relief as they see her take the supplies. It's a small victory and a significant step forward that she trusts them and the resources they offer. The omega takes the berries and nuts and eats them first, then steps back as she nibbles at the dried meat.

“What if she doesn’t want to come out?” one of the alphas says, speaking in a low voice so that only they can hear each other.

“Then we wait; someone's should go out and set up camp. This will take a while,” Adam says. Aron and Raven leave the cave following the leader'sinstructions.

“Come Omega, we want to take care of you. It’s cold here and you have no supplies,” Fyre says. “You’ll get sick and if you’re alone no one will be able to help you.”

The omegais desperate, cornered, and has no where to go. "How does they know I don't have any supplies? , probably already rummaged through my belongings,"she thinks.

" Fyre, you should go out... she won't come near us if we outnumbered her, she feels at disadvantage. Let me talk to her, I won't hurt her. I want her to understand what's going on."

Fyre is annoyed, but he understood what Adam meant. Two alphas of their size could be imposed for a small, tired omega. "I'll stay at the entrance. If you need anything, just shout. I'll be here in two seconds."

The omega sees another alpha leave the chamber, lets out a sigh of relief, thinking they're giving up. "What's your name?" she hears Adam's soft voice echo in the cavern, too soft for an alpha of his size. The omega notices the change in his voice and furrows her brow.

“Lisa…what do you want? Your men have already left.”

“I asked them to leave, I want us to talk, I want to negotiate with you,” he says as he slowly approaches, “I’ll come closer so we can talk better, I won’t try anything, please don’t run.”

Lisa stays in place, but listens. “Negotiate? And your men agree with that? What about 'taking what's mine'?”

“Don’t think about them, let’s talk, you and me, how are you? Is there enough in that bag? Are you still hungry? I have apples if you want some?” he says as he throws one to her.

Lisa catches the apple, “You have good reflexes, why did you run? We were talking…”

“Your men weren’t just willing to talk; they were threatening me. They don’t have the control you show, why? What makes you different?”

Adam's chest swells with pride as he hears she think he is different. "They're my brothers, their temperaments are different... Lisa, I want you to come with us.If other packs find you, they won't be so civilized. They'll drag you away by force and make you endure impossible births. I offer you my protection. I promise no one will touch you without my explicit permission. You have my word."

“In exchange for what?” Lisa says, looking at Adam’s face in the dim light.

“In exchange for what?” Adam repeats. “I didn’t ask you for anything, I just wantyou to allow me to do what my instinct tells me to do. It wants me to take careof you, to protect you from the world if necessary.”

"So you don't want to take care of me, you do it because of your nature, you don't have to if you don't want to. I've taken care of myself all this time without needing an alpha."

“I know…but I want to do it. Please allow me at least that, the certainty that you'll be safe under my care. I can't live knowing that I could have take cared for the last omega in the world and I left her alone because I couldn't negotiate with her. In return, if you wish—you are not obligated—give us your company; your presence is enough for us.”

Lisa watched him, analyzing the alpha, thinking about what he said. It was true that they weren't like other alphas; they weren't aggressive. They wanted to talk,to take care of her, and maybe something else, but they showed control and that was more than any other alpha showed before. "I'll think about it,"she said, walking out of the chamber toward the other tunnel.

“Will you think about it?!” Adam said, a little more effusive than he intended. Lisa’s response was an unexpected surprise. He walked behind her, feeling a slight sense of triumph in his chest. “Okay, I understand you want to be alone to think about it. I’ll bring you supplies for tonight, or you can come down and have something to eat with us. We’re setting up a camp to look after you. I won’t let anyone touch you, I promise. Look at them in the eyes. If you don’t like something, we’ll let you go, but I really would like you to give me the chanceto protect you.” Adam stepped forward to block her path, waiting for her answer.

Lisa considered the alpha's deal. They had all been running for a long time and were exhausted. If there was an opportunity to observe them closely without them posing a real threat, this was the one. She began mentally reviewing escape routes in case things got out of control. Once she had a clear route, she agreed to go with him.

Anyway, she knew she'd never be rid of them again. They'd called her their lifeline, and the desperation on their faces was plain to see. If they'd wanted to hurt her, they would have done so, from day one. Lisa might be elusive, but there were six of them. They'd had their chance and hadn't used it. Suddenly, Lisa felt curious to meet the alphas who seemed different and had self-control.
