Chapter 1
The grand palace of Ravenshire stood at the heart of the kingdom of Eldora, it was one of the most powerful kingdoms to ever exist for centuries. It conquered many kingdoms and lands, it was feared, it was known for its massive population, wealth and power.
The palace was usually busy that morning. Aurelia hurried through the hallway with her cleaning duties, “move faster!!” Miss Catherine yelled startledly as the bucket slipped slightly from her trembling hands as l aughter echoed through the long palace hall way.
"useless dirty slut” one of the maids muttered before brushing past her shoulder harshly she lowered her head immediately, whispering a quiet apology even though she had done nothing wrong.She quietly started mopping, scrubbing the floor harder she hasn't even taken her shower since yesterday, exhausted and tried some maids pass by whispering
“Have you heard”? Rose whisper
“Heard what”? Clara leans close
“The prince is coming back” She said excitedly
“What prince”? Clara looked confused
“The crown prince, the one overseas have you forgotten” she rolls her eyes
“Oh my! It's been 10 years now where did you hear this from” she stare surprisely
“The royal court room when I went to serve tea this morning” she shrugged
"And how is that supposed to be our business” Clara picked up the broom
“Well….. I Just wanted to let you know I mean who won't be excited to meet him it's the heir we're talking about here do you know how important he is, and you ( she caught me staring, trying to listen to there conversation) what are you looking at she picked up the broom and hit me several times looking at me disgusted and spat on my hair, how can someone be this ugly and still flat, you disgusting pig she smiled so satisfied
“Oh my god! what is that horrible smell clara said stately intensely at me, when last did you shower you dirty slut she grab my hair, my scalp was aching from the pain as I try to break free
"Please I haven't done anything let me go” I say with pleading eyes
"Did you just speak” rose laughed how bold
“We could hear footsteps looking up was Emily. The only person that has treated me right, who looked at me like a human, she was the only person close to me like a sister I never had. She looked furious, not saying a word she picked up a bat and swung it, hitting Clara as blood oozed out Clara screamed in terror.
"How dare you!!!” “One more word from you and next would be your face so scram away miss Catherine is looking for you both”
"You!!!!” She screamed about to attack but rose held her
"Let's just go, we would get her next time she's not worth it, let's just get that treated” as she held Clara's hand.
"This isn't over you imbecile! ” they left hurriedly
“are you okay” Emily smiled warmly at me
“You shouldn't have done that”
“Done what? ” she said surprised
“You just caused more problems for yourself and me too”
"Seriously is that the thank you Emily I should be getting” she scoff
“No, I mean yes I appreciate but please stop fighting for me”
"Well you don't look like someone that is ready to fight for her self” she's said angrily when is this all going to stop when are you going to learn to stand up for self before you get killed
“I won't get killed am fine I just don't want trouble” I said burying my head down
“This doesn't give them right to bully you it's cause you let everyone step on you and that doesn't sit right with me, I don't care if am going to get into trouble but if they pick on you or anyone I will smash there head," she said demotracting with the bat.
I smile softly “you're stubborn, hmm… You look too happy, why?
“ Is it that obvious” she started giggling
“Spill” I grab her hand
“ Have you showered?” she looked at me
“ No” I say as I awkwardly itching my hair missCatherine asked the tap to be turned off permanently.
“Why?” She looked shocked
“I don't know why she didn't tell me anything just order me to work”
“How can that woman be so cruel” she said frowning as I hurriedly close her mouth
“lower your voice someone might here”
She sigh “you can shower in my room”
“Seriously”
"Yeah sure, you can why not you look dirty and messed up and smelling too, no offense”
"None taken” (I smile) thank you
"Now let's go then you can change into my other uniform your lucky I have a spare one today” she says grabbing my hand
"So spill why were you giggling” I asked curiously She started giggling again shower first then I spill As we walked through the corridors heading to the maid quarters
. Royal Council POV:
There was a lot of murmuring and silent whisper the king of Ravenshire, king Alexanderwatched as his cabinet discuss among themselves
"Your majesty” lord Cedric whitemore one of the most high ranked noble man spoke up, when is our heir coming back to us I mean it's been long and we need to fix a date for his coronation and also a bride selection
"Cassian would be back soon and as for the bride selection that is not in your power to decide”
"With all due respect your majesty are you saying we have to wait for the crown prince before selecting a date that's absurd”
"Immediately he comes back, the bride selection would begin, that's how it is meant to be or are you planning on bending the rules for your son” The whole room fell silent lord Vincent spoke up he was another high rank in power and well respected.
“It has come to my notice, you all would decide on a matter without my knowledge, are you planning on going against your king.
“We dare not be” your majesty, we just need to speed up things and the heir has to be present, there is no time, the ironvale are planning to launch an attack and we have to prepare”. Lord Theodore spoke up his known for playing mind games one of the most feared among all, his intelligent and politically dangerous
“I have heard what you all have said and I will see to it,I have matters to attend now we can all leave They all stood up and bow their heads and left. One of the guards entered into the court room
“your majesty” he bows, her highness lady Eleanor requests your present
“Show her in” he bows and left, queen Eleanor walks in looking very graceful, elegant with her quiet walking step a wavy long hair reaching her waist, her long silky gown with a lot of accessories
she smiled softly “You didn't come for breakfast I was expecting you” she said softly
“I had to attend to something urgently, sorry I miss it” he said staring intensely at her
“Why are you staring that way” she says shyly
“Looking as gorgeous as we first meet, do you want a third child
“How can you say something like that your highness” she said rolling her eyes when is my baby boy coming back have you heard form him
“You care about him more than me (looks away)
“Of course I don't, how can you still be childish at this age she playful hit his chest
“Don't worry about him his safe and would soon be back” he spoke softly
“I wanted to ask altho I know am not meant to interfere but what did the councils say about him
He sighs deeply he has to pick a bride as soon as possible and also the incoming war has to be taken care of by him”
I don't understand since when is it his job to do that, we have a chief for that I wouldn't let my son who I haven't Seen and spend time with be on a dangerous battle field how can you agree to this she frowns deeply clearly disappointed
“Is not in my power to decide that, please calm down my love”
“No! don't tell me that, your the king you can't tellme you would let your son, your heir die on a battlefield.
“That's why he's overseas in the first place, Cassian is no longer a kid his all grown he has been prepared for this, please understand I know you're worried but nothing would happen to him”.
“Well… Am just being a concerned mother, she sighs deeply and smiled again come let's eat, I forgot you haven'teaten I prepared your favorite meal” “What! how can they allow you into the kitchen” She smiled softly I told them to let me, you have been stressed out lately so I decide to prepare it myself, would you join me “Of course I would” he smiled softly, they both walked hand in hand Queen Vivienne chambers Pov:
A mask man is seen pacing in front of Queen Vivienne room,she was the second wife to king Alexander,a woman of rare beauty and rarer ambitions-one who has never forgiven the throne for choosing another before her, the queen opens the door and he walks in quietly taking off his mask.
“Did anybody see you coming” she asked hurriedly,
Queen Vivienne“No, I was careful not to be spotted,” he said, sitting down.
“what I heard, tell me is not true, tell me that his not coming back, you said you had it under control” she said yelling
“My queen I did what you instructed it was executed successfully”
"You incompetent! I shouldn't have trusted you just one job you failed, you better go and handle it if not I promise I will have your head” she said furious, staring with a killer intent He bows down.
"I promise to do better next time, I shall take my leave. He stood up and quietly left. As she slumps on the bed, drifting into her own world.
