Prologue
“You should try this cream.”
“Your skin became darker.”
“He could get someone more beautiful.”
Some words are said casually.
But some stay long enough to become insecurities.
At twenty-five, Harshitha Vas is tired of being treated like someone who needs fixing. Years of comments about her dark skin, pimples, and appearance slowly make her believe one painful thing:
Maybe girls like me are never someone’s first choice.
Then she meets Arjun Shrivastava. An army officer who carries calm in his silence and warmth in the way he understands people. Unlike everyone else, Arjun never looks at Harshitha with judgment or pity.
While the world keeps teaching her to change herself, he quietly teaches her how to feel seen.
Between late-night conversations, missed meetings, career pressure, family expectations, and growing emotional dependence, they slowly become each other’s peace.
But love becomes difficult when society speaks louder than the heart.
“You spent years hearing what’s wrong with you...”
“I spent months seeing everything beautiful in you.”
