BEFORE I FOUND YOU

I have seen many sunrises yet none of them has ever made me feel anything despite the emptiness within me that has followed me ever since i can remember . I often stay up late not just because its peaceful but also because the world is a little kinder to me in between those moments The city was quieter at 4 a.m. The traffic faded, the noise disappears

I am cassie a 26 years old women who lives in New York , I am a business women I moved to New York when i was 21 cause nothing was left for me in India everything that i have is because of me i stated all of this from scratch .

Cassie POV

I was waiting for the lift there i met a boy he seemed in a hurry but he was very well dressed in a quite luxury suit he seemed from a quite well off family he sort of bumped into me ' I'm sorry' he said

"It's okay," I replied, stepping aside.

He gave me a quick nod before glancing at the elevator numbers above us.

The elevator doors opened with a soft ding.

We stepped inside together.

Silence settled between us, broken only by the hum of the elevator.

'why are you in a rush' I broke the silence once again

'I have an interview here today and i am kinda late' He replied

' isn't interview at 9AM its still 8 : 30 you've still got time chill out ' I said

' I don't lie to be late '

' Do you know anything about who's gonna take your interview any idea ? ' I ASKED

'None , though I've heard a lot of things from former employees one of them was my friends friend so i do know quite a lot '

'Like What' I ASKED

' why are you so curious lady ? '

'Come on, think of me as a fellow employee. What have you heard about her ? '

he rubbed the back of his neck

'well not much just that she is a bitch can eat you alive if you don't work the way she wants you too '

I raised an eyebrow, fighting back a smile .

' damn she does sounds like a bitch well we'll see '

'we are here '

he opened the witting door for me

' Acting all gentleman after calling me a bitch huh ' I SAID TO MYSELF

As i looked through the room there were many applicants many seemed stressed some seemed very calm but among all the people he seemed just relived as if he know that he will get this position not because of his overconfidence but because he knows that he fits perfectly for this position it made me even curious about him

we took a seat beside each other

A man sitting nearby smiled politely.

"Here for the interview too?"

he nodded once before looking away. The conversation ended as quickly as it had begun. I couldn't help but notice how distant he seemed. as if he was putting a invisible wall around him

"You don't talk much, do you?" I ASKED .

He looked up from his phone.

"Not unless I have something worth saying."

But wasn't he the one talking continually in the lift and suddenly he's cold

"People must think you're rude."

A faint smirk appeared on his face.

"They usually do."

"And are they right?"

For the first time, he looked directly at me. his eyes were of light brown colour it fits him perfectly his eyes shimmered like the sun shining on the ocean his lips that are in perfect shape as they could be his fair skin and long lashes that any girl would get jealous of

"Depends who's asking."

he said while smirking

it sort of made me piss off

' what makes you think you will get this position no matter what '

' I don't think so i ever said that i am sure i will '

' don't act like that i know you do why ?'

' you know how to read people don't you '

he smiled

' well cause i am very well qualified for this and i fit perfectly for this role and because i deserve it '

'what makes you think that other people in this room does not ? '

my question left him in silence

Finally, I got up and walked out of the waiting room. It was almost time for the interview I didn't bother looking back.

A few minutes later, I entered my office and sat behind my desk.

The familiar view of the city stretched beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows.

A knock sounded at the door.

"Come in."

The door opened.

Noah stepped inside.

The confidence on his face vanished the moment our eyes met. the color drained from his face

For the first time since I'd met him, he looked completely speechless.

"You."

A smile tugged at the corner of my lips.

"Good morning, Mr. William."

His jaw tightened.

"You are the interviewer?"

'please take a seat '

We stared at each other in silence.

His face seemed to replay every word he'd said about me in the waiting room. Including the less flattering ones.

I stretched my arms asking for the documents. For the first time all morning, Noah William looked nervous.

And I wasn't sure whether I found that amusing or satisfying.

I opened the folder and skimmed through his resume.

The room fell silent. Noah sat across from me, his posture straight and composed.

The qualifications were impressive.

'Why do you want to leave your current position because from what i saw you have quite good reputation'

"I've learned everything I can there," he finally said. "I want something more challenging."

"More challenging?"

"Growth doesn't come from being comfortable."

it kinda caught me off guarded.

I glanced down at the resume again.

"You seem very confident in your abilities, Mr. William."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"I wouldn't have applied if I didn't think I could do the job."

I leaned back in my chair.

"Fair enough."

For a moment, neither of us spoke. Then I closed the folder

The interview continued for another ten minutes.

By the end of it, I had learned a thing

Noah William was indeed more qualified than most of the applicants who had walked through that door

When the interview finally came to an end, I closed the folder.

"Thank you for your time, Mr. William."

He stood.

"Thank you for yours."

With that, he turned and walked out of the office.

The door clicked shut behind him.

I stared at it for a few seconds longer than necessary. Then I looked down at the file on my desk.

Noah William.

For someone I had met less than an hour ago, he had already managed to occupy far too much space in my thoughts.

Almost after an hour i waled out of the door and there i met Noah William

' You haven't left yet' I ASKED

' I am really sorry i didn't know you were the one conducting the interview''

' so you still would have said that if that was not me but someone else '

' no absolutely not '

' I am sure you aren't here to apologize but something else how can i help you Mr William'

' will our conversation will affect my interview '

' well you should know one thing about this is that in this building there is thatb we prefer professionalism if we find you better than everyone else you will hear back and of Couse no grudges affect your work life '
