Chapter 1
There is nothing like waking up with a wedding ring, naked under sheets and wrapped around a thick,warm body. Really warm. As in breathing. Alive.And then it hits me.Hazy but still it hits me with a full blast.
Oh my god. How many whiskeys did I have?
The body starts to move and groan. And I do meangroanI sit there frozen.Whatishis name? Just thinking about that combined with him thrusting into my last night brings color to my cheeks.
“Good morning, beautiful...”
At that I lost it with a screaming match. He screamed. I screamed.For several hours we were innoisetown with our lungs until his teammate knocked on the door.
“Are you... not Tina?”Heasks, wrapping the sheet around his lower half. And I caught a glimpse.
“Who the fuck is Tina?” I shouted back, with a pen in my hand.Why? I don’t know. It was on the nightstand.
The knocking gets louder, and he looks at the door, and tilts his head.We both play ‘get the door’ with our heads up until he sighs to get it.
I duck behind the hotel bed, peeking up just slightly to have a view of what’s happening. “Caiden...He’s looking for you,” a male voice said. He has an accent. Definitely.
“Why would he want me there?” Caiden, I assume asks the other guy, who shrugs.
“Something about it being important.... or some shit,” the guy said, patting Caiden on the shoulder just as my phone rings. Perfect timing. They both freeze. I do too. I cannot expose myself. No....My dad made me use the ‘You’re under arrest’ as a ringtone for him for some reason.
And he has yet years to retire but he won’t. Sighing, I use my hands just to search for my phone, but I had to get up to grab it.I fidget with it before I eventually end the call before it starts.
I slowly look just to watch Caiden and the other guy staring at me. “Did you bang a blondie?”
And without my glasses he is just a blurry dot for me. Caiden’s brow,however,is up, both hands on either side of his hips.I was still holding onto the phone. The same one as I got when I was 13. In the fucking 2000s.
Caiden gets Liam to finally exit the room, but I ampretty sureI might have left my glasses back at the bar by now.Maybe Ishould ask aboutthis,Tina. Cause I wanna know.
“Can I just ask... Is Tina Blonde?”
I had to. I just had to. “No...She’s a brunette, short hair.... dresses like a hooker. With 20/20 vision....”
“Did you just call me blind?And also.... Good to know.”
He was probably either silent or thinking of what to say, neither of which I careaboutso I search everywhere for my glasses, hoping to find it.Maybe it’s on the damn floor.
A sigh comes from my left, and my body tingles—a little too much with pleasure. I am not used to this, so I go stiff.
“I don’t think you’ll find them….My teammate broke them,kinda.And by the way….You should make your other tit bigger….So guys have something to grab onto.”
And he calls me unsexy.“Wow, you really do have a way with words,” I mumble. Asshole with good abs.
The silence after was of course inevitable. I sat on the bed, comfortable bed where we…. Nope.I am a virgin. A good one.
When the empty space next to me gets occupied by a now familiar cologne, I turn, just to enough to make out his face.
“Is you cool?” I ask him, and yet his handsome dark skin makes me want to do the unimaginable.The lord is about to spank me to hell.Andsamegoes for my grandma.
His eyebrow shot up. Like really shot up—like hehasn’theard me talk like that before.
“And you owe me a brand new pair of prescription glasses, and make sure they don’t slide off my nose,” I continued while looking at the carpet. It’s swirling a lot right now.
“You think? Cause we just tied the knot and f—”he tries to say.
I shut him up with my attempt at placing my palm onto his kissable lips but end up slapping him in the face.
“I guess I see why you would need glasses….” He says.
I squint hard to see that he is clutching his nose. Did I? Oh no.Frantically I try and grab something but end up with the hotel sheet in my hand.

Two nights later,I am back in my friends’ room with a ring on my finger, andglasses. She got me a new pair.
She almost wouldn’t shut up about me and Caiden—the F1racer, apparently.
“So,what…. You banged him up, and now that shiny thing on your finger means you’re taken?” She said.
Note to self, never let your friend drag you to the club. And she just so happens to be my only black friend. She also happens to have been caught on the wrong end of my gran’s stick.
We, I mean she dragged me to holler and hoot at other boys our age, and my gran dragged us back just to spank us. I was more like the side piece who tried to holler but ended up not doing the whole thing.
I took three romance books with me, and they all seem to have been neglected in my desperation to tell Rhonda about all this. Mama T will not appreciate the fact that I didn’t stay a virgin. And then there’s my single father, who will think Caiden raped me and forced me to marry him.
“Youreadingthe Windy City series?” She asks, while sipping on her drink.
She may not look like it, but she’s a philosophy girl. But she is the only person who stuck around for me, and somehow pushes me to come out of my shell. My very comfortable shell.
“Of course I am....” I replied after our little silence.
She lets me wallow in it for now. But what I wasn’t expecting after going back to the south for the guy I accidentally married to show up, like a lost puppy. At my door.
Yeah, Mama T will be pissed.
