Chapter 1
Act I: The Realization
INT. BUNKER - WAR ROOM - NIGHT
The map table is littered with empty whiskey bottles, ancient texts, and dried blood. A single overhead lamp flickers.
SAM WINCHESTER sits at the table. He looks hollow, dark circles bruising the skin under his eyes. He is aggressively translating a lore book, his knuckles white around a pen.
DEAN WINCHESTER stands by the weapon rack. He is meticulously sharpening a machete. The scraping sound is rhythmic, deafening, and psychotic. Dean's eyes are bloodshot, staring at nothing.
SAM
(Without looking up)
You haven't slept in four days, Dean.
DEAN
(Blade scrapes)
Sleep is for the dead. And we ain't dead yet.
SAM
You're vibrating. I can hear your teeth chattering from across the room. Drop the blade.
Dean stops scraping. The silence is heavy, suffocating. Dean slowly turns, holding the machete tightly. His expression is completely vacant.
DEAN
He's in the void, Sam. Do you get that? It's cold. It's nothing. And he went there smiling because of me. Because of what he said to me.
SAM
(Sighs heavily, closing the book)
I know what he said. You told me.
DEAN
No, I told you the clean version. The version you could stomach.
Dean walks over, slamming the machete onto the map table. It embeds itself into the wood. He leans down, directly into Sam's face. He smells like cheap alcohol and unwashed sweat.
DEAN (CONT'D)
He didn't just say he loved me, Sammy. He said it was a sickness. He said he'd watch the world bleed out if it kept me warm. And the sickest part? I wanted to let it.
Sam stares at his brother. He doesn't look shocked he looks deeply, profoundly exhausted. The realization of how warped the dynamic has become settles into his features.
SAM
(Voice dropping, steady)
I've watched you two for over a decade. You think I didn't see it? You think I didn't see the way you two used each other as an excuse to destroy everything else?
DEAN
(Sneering)
Don't judge me. Not after Ruby. Not after the demon blood.
SAM
This is different, Dean! When I did that, I was a monster. You and Cas... you call it love, but it's a parasite. He literalized his own godhood to make himself small enough to fit inside your trauma. And you let him do it because you're too terrified to be alone in your own head.
DEAN
(Laughs darkly)
Yeah. Maybe. But he's mine. The Empty thinks it can keep him? I'm going to rip that place apart with my bare hands.
SAM
Look at yourself! You're losing your mind. If you pull him back out of that darkness, whatever comes back isn't going to be the angel that helped us save the world. It's going to be a monster that only breathes for you.
DEAN
Good. Let the world burn. I'm getting my angel back.
Act II: The Confrontation
INT. BUNKER - DUNGEON - NIGHT
A massive, glowing Enochian ritual circle is painted in fresh blood on the floor. Dean stands in the center, chanting under his breath. The air pressure in the room drops dangerously. The lights shatter overhead.
Sam steps into the doorway. He isn't holding a weapon. He is holding a shotgun loaded with angel-killing rounds, but it's aimed low, at the floor.
SAM
Dean. Stop.
Dean doesn't stop. He cuts his forearm open, letting the blood drip into the center of the sigil. The room begins to shake. Black, tar-like substance starts oozing from the cracks in the concrete.
SAM (CONT'D)
(Screaming over the rising wind)
DEAN! Look at the lore! The spell doesn't just open the Empty. It trades a soul. A balanced exchange. You aren't just rescuing him. You're giving yourself to it!
DEAN
(Turning, eyes wild, blood running down his arm)
Then I'll be with him! Either way, I win!
Sam steps forward, his voice cracking with emotion. The older brother-younger brother dynamic is completely inverted; Sam is the adult trying to stop a suicide.
SAM
And what about me? Huh? What about the world we were supposed to save? You're throwing it all away for a codependent nightmare! He dragged you out of Hell, Dean, but you're the one dragging him down to earth to rot with you.
DEAN
You don't get it. You never got it. You had Jess. You had choices. Cas was the only thing in the universe that looked at a piece of garbage like me and chose it anyway. I am not living in a world where that doesn't exist.
SAM
It's not love, Dean! It's a suicide pact!
The black tar on the floor suddenly erupts upward, forming a towering, shadowy figure. The silhouette shifts, taking the shape of CASTIEL. His eyes glow a blinding, erratic blue, but his face is twisted in an expression of agonizing, possessive hunger.
The Castiel entity steps forward, ignoring Sam entirely. Its eyes lock onto Dean.
CASTIEL
(Voice layered, booming, echoey)
Dean... you called. You tore the fabric. You came for me.
DEAN
(Dropping to his knees, breathless, terrified but ecstatic)
Cas...
Sam raises the shotgun, pointing it directly at the entity that looks like Castiel. His hands are shaking, but his gaze is lethal.
SAM
Get away from him.
Castiel slowly turns his head toward Sam. The expression is devoid of the old Castiel's warmth. It is cold, ancient, and deeply threatening.
CASTIEL
Small Winchester. You are an ant pretending to understand the stars. Move, or I will extinguish you.
SAM
(To Dean, desperate)
Dean, look at him! That isn't Cas! It's the void wearing his face!
DEAN
(Standing up, stepping between Sam and Castiel)
I don't care. It's him.
Dean walks directly up to the entity. He reaches out, his bloody hand touching the entity's face. The black tar stains Dean's skin, burning it, but Dean doesn't flinch.
Castiel leans into the touch, his angelic grace flaring, casting long, demonic shadows on the wall. The intimacy is suffocating, violent, and absolute.
SAM
(Dropping the gun, tears hitting his cheeks)
You're really going to leave me here. Alone.
Dean looks back at Sam over his shoulder. His expression softens for a fraction of a second, returning to the brother Sam knew. But then he looks back at Castiel, and the warmth vanishes, replaced by a dark, total surrender.
DEAN
I'm sorry, Sammy. But you were always strong enough to survive without me. I'm not strong enough to survive without this.
Castiel wraps his arms around Dean. The black tar consumes them both, and with a deafening crack of thunder, they vanish into the floor.
The room goes dead silent. The blood on the floor is cold.
Sam stands alone in the dark dungeon. He slowly picks up his shotgun, walks out of the room, and closes the door behind him.
Act III: The Fractured Family
INT. BUNKER - MAIN LIBRARY - NIGHT
The silence of the bunker is heavy, thick with the smell of stale coffee and cold metal.
SAM sits at the head of the long wooden table. He isn't crying anymore. His face is a blank mask of total numbness. His laptop is closed. The only sound is the rhythmic, mechanical ticking of the wall clock.
The heavy iron door of the bunker clangs open upstairs. Footsteps hurry down the iron stairs.
MARY WINCHESTER hurries into the library, her jacket still damp from the rain outside. Her face is pale with worry. She drops her duffel bag onto the floor.
MARY
Sam? Sam, I got your message. You sounded... I've never heard your voice sound like that. Where's Dean? Is there a hunt?
Sam doesn't look up immediately. He just stares at the empty chair across from him the chair where Dean used to sit, carving initials or nursing a beer.
SAM
(Voice dead, flat)
Dean's gone, Mom.
MARY
(Stepping closer, alarmed by his tone)
Gone? Gone where? Did a monster take him? Is it Chuck? Sam, talk to me.
SAM
No monster took him. He left. He chose to leave.
MARY
(Confused, shaking her head)
That doesn't make sense. Dean would never leave you. He would never abandon this fight. What happened?
Sam finally looks up. His eyes are entirely hollow, carrying the weight of a man who has realized the foundation of his entire life was built on a lie.
SAM
Cas died. He sacrificed himself to the Empty to save Dean. But before he went... he told Dean he loved him. Not like a brother, Mom. Not like a friend. It was an obsession. An ancient, cosmic entity completely losing its mind for him.
Mary freezes. She processes the words, her hunting instincts trying to catalog the threat.
MARY
An angel... infatuated with a human. That's dangerous. But Dean-
SAM
Dean went crazy. He didn't mourn, Mom. He didn't try to find a safe way to fix it. He spent four days starving himself, bleeding himself dry, translating dark Enochian magic. He didn't want to save the world anymore. He just wanted his fix.
MARY
(Softly, reaching out to touch Sam's shoulder)
Sammy... they've always been co-dependent. You know how Dean gets when he loses people. He spirals.
SAM
(Lashing out, slapping his hand onto the table)
No! Don't minimize this! This wasn't a spiral! I stood in that dungeon down there. I held an angel-killing gun to the thing that came out of the void. It wasn't even Cas anymore it was a monster wearing his face, dripping with black tar, promising to wipe me off the earth. And you know what Dean did?
Mary stares at him, her breath catching in her throat.
SAM (CONT'D)
He stepped between us. He protected it. He looked me in the eye, told me he couldn't live without that sickness, and let the darkness swallow them both. He chose a monster over his own brother. Over me. Over everything we built.
Mary drops into the chair next to Sam. The reality sinks into her. The fierce, protective older son she raised, the boy who lived and breathed for his little brother, had completely broken under the weight of an unnatural, suffocating love.
MARY
(Voice trembling)
So... he's just gone? Into the void?
SAM
He's gone. And he's never coming back. Even if he does, whatever crawls out of that hole won't be my brother. It'll be something else.
MARY
(Reaching over, tightly gripping Sam's hand)
Then we don't look for him.
Sam looks at her, startled by the cold resolve in her voice.
MARY (CONT'D)
I lost both of you once. I spent years in Heaven, and then I came back to a world of nightmares. I watched Dean become a soldier, a killer... but I never thought I'd see him become a casualty of his own mind. If he chose the dark, Sam... we let him stay there. I am not losing you to his madness.
SAM
(A single tear finally slips down his cheek)
I don't know how to do this alone, Mom. My whole life... every single choice I ever made was connected to him.
MARY
You aren't alone. You have me. We lock the dungeon door. We bury the lore. And we survive.
Act IV: The Devouring Void
EXT. THE EMPTY - NO TIME / NO SPACE
An endless, infinite expanse of absolute pitch black. There is no sky. There is no ground. The air smells like ozone, old blood, and burning feathers.
DEAN lies on his back in the ink-like darkness. He is breathing heavily. The black tar of the void stains his flannel shirt, seeping into his skin like veins of poison.
A shadow ripples beside him. CASTIEL materializes, crouching over Dean.
This is not the awkward, polite angel of the CW network. His trench coat is torn and scorched. His eyes bleed a constant, faint, erratic blue light. When he speaks, his voice doesn't just vibrate the air it vibrates inside Dean's skull.
CASTIEL
You shouldn't have come here, Dean. This place is meant for the dead to sleep. You are rotting alive just breathing this air.
Dean reaches up, his trembling fingers digging into the fabric of Castiel's coat, pulling the angel down until their faces are inches apart. Dean's lips are stained black.
DEAN
(Gasping, a desperate, broken laugh)
Shut up. Just... shut up. You think I care about rotting? You told me I changed you, Cas. You told me it was a sickness.
CASTIEL
It is. It consumed my grace. It made me betray Heaven, betray my father, betray my own kind. Look at me, Dean. I am a fallen star. I am a monster that tore open the universe just to possess a fragile, dying human.
DEAN
Then possess me.
Castiel pauses. His blue eyes flare violently. He presses his hand against Dean's chest. The angelic grace burns Dean's skin through his clothes, leaving a smoking, permanent brand over his heart. Dean screams in a mix of agonizing pain and pure, ecstatic surrender.
CASTIEL
(Whispering, his voice dark and hungry)
If I take you, Dean, there is no going back. Sam will never see you again. The world of light will forget you. You will be nothing but a ghost bound to a broken angel in the dark.
DEAN
(Biting his lip till it bleeds, staring into the terrifying, vast eyes of the angel)
Good. I don't want the light. I don't want Sam. I just want this. Burn me out, Cas.
Castiel leans down, pressing his lips to Dean's. It isn't a gentle kiss. It is a violent, desperate consumption.
As they touch, the black tar of the void surges upward around them like an ocean wave, wrapping them in an absolute, suffocating cocoon. Dean's human heartbeat slows down, syncing perfectly with the erratic, thrumming pulse of Castiel's dying grace.
They sink into the infinite dark, completely isolated from humanity, entirely consumed by a love that destroyed them both.
Act V: The Ghost of the Past
INT. MOTEL ROOM - NIGHT
The room is typical for a hunt: peeling floral wallpaper, a buzzing neon sign bleeding green light through the cheap curtains, and a faint smell of mold.
MARY WINCHESTER sits on the edge of a sagging bed, meticulously cleaning the gears of an old brass trap. Her face looks hardened, aged by the quiet gravity of the last few months.
SAM WINCHESTER stands by the window, peering out into the rainy parking lot. He is noticeably bigger, broader, but his posture is rigid. He wears a dark tactical jacket. The long hair is gone, chopped short and functional.
SAM
(Without turning)
The police report said three victims. All of them found in their beds, completely drained of spinal fluid. No defensive wounds. No signs of forced entry.
MARY
A Wraith? Or a skinwalker variant?
SAM
Doesn't fit. Wraiths leave a puncture wound at the back of the neck. These bodies... they look like they dissolved from the inside out. Like something just reached into their chest and drank them dry.
Mary stops cleaning the brass gears. She looks at Sam's back.
MARY
Sam. You're doing it again.
SAM
(Stiffening)
Doing what? I'm reading the case.
MARY
You haven't looked away from that window in two hours. You're waiting for a black Chevy Impala that isn't coming.
The silence hits the room like a physical blow. Sam doesn't move. His knuckles turn white against the window frame.
SAM
(Voice low, straining)
The Impala is in the bunker, Mom. Under a tarp. I know exactly where it is.
MARY
Then stop looking for him in every shadow. It's been six months. We made a deal. We hunt, we protect people, and we leave the dead where they chose to rot.
SAM
(Turning around, his eyes flashing with a cold, controlled anger)
He isn't dead, Mary! That's the thing. If he was dead, I could bury him. I could cry, I could drink, I could move the hell on. But he's out there. Or down there. Stuck with an ancient cosmic entity that thinks loving someone means consuming them.
MARY
(Standing up, stepping toward him)
He chose it. You told me yourself. He looked you in the eye and chose the dark.
SAM
Because he was broken! Because we spent fifteen years breaking him! We treated him like a shield, and when he finally shattered, we just... we just closed the door.
Before Mary can respond, the lights in the motel room flicker violently. The buzzing green neon sign outside explodes with a sharp pop.
The air pressure drops instantly. The temperature plummets, turning their breath into white plumes of fog.
MARY
(Reaching for her shotgun on the bed)
Sam. Behind you.
Sam spins around. The window pane is rapidly frosting over, crystals of ice mapping out jagged patterns. But it's not normal ice. The frost is forming shapes Enochian sigils, glowing with a faint, oily black light.
A horrible, high-pitched ringing fills the room, vibrating the glass until the bathroom mirror shatters.
SAM
(Wincing, covering his ears)
It's not a standard monster, Mom. Get the salt!
MARY
(Screaming over the ringing)
Salt won't hold this! Look at the floor!
From beneath the gap in the motel door, a thick, viscous black tar begins to ooze. It moves with a sickening purpose, creeping across the cheap carpet toward Sam's boots. It smells of old blood, sulfur, and burning feathers.
Sam draws his machete, but his hands shake. He recognizes that smell. He recognizes that substance.
SAM
(Whispering, horror dawning on his face)
No... no, no, no.
The black tar pools in the center of the room, bubbling violently before rising up into a humanoid silhouette. The shape shifts, expanding, until it solidifies into
a towering figure.
It wears a filthy, shredded trench coat.
It's eyes are solid, pitch black voids, but deep within the sockets, two erratic points of blue light flicker like dying stars.
CASTIEL
(Voice layered, demonic, echoing from every corner of the room)
Sam...Winchester.
Mary raises her shotgun, her finger tightening on the trigger, her maternal instinct overriding her terror.
MARY
Get back from my son!
The Castiel entity doesn't even look at her. With a casual flick of its wrist, an invisible force slams Mary backward into the wall. The shotgun flies from her grip. She drops to the floor, gasping for air.
SAM
(Lungeing forward)
MOM!
Before Sam can reach her, the entity materializes directly in front of him, moving with impossible, angelic speed. A cold, black veined hand clamps around Sam's throat, lifting his massive frame completely off the ground.
Sam chokes, his fingers clawing at the entity's wrist. The skin where Castiel touches him begins to blister and blacken.
CASTIEL
(Staring into Sam's eyes with absolute detachment)
The human vessel is so loud. It screams for you, Sam it begs me to spare you.
SAM
(Gasping for air, voice strangled)
Cas...stop...please...
CASTIEL
Castiel is a fragment of the entity you see before you. I am the Void. And your brother...your brother is my heart now.
But he is still too human. He's so bleeds for you. He still dreams of you.
The entity steps closer, it's face inches from Sam's. The black tar drips from its jawline, burning holes in Sam's jacket.
CASTIEL
I cannot have him dreaming of anything but me. If I extinguish you, Sam...if I erase your soul from existence...Dean will finally be quiet. He will finally be mine. Completely.
From the dark hallway outside the open motel door, a heavy, slow footprint echoes.
A figure steps into the flickering light of the doorway.
It is Dean Winchester.
But it's not the brother Sam knows.
Dean's skin is deathly pale, translucent, with black veins spider webbing up his neck and across his cheekbones. His eyes are entirely black, devoid of Iris or pupil. He wears his old leather jacket, but it is stained with the same black tar. He looks hollow, a meat suit entirely possessed by the dark romance of the void.
DEAN
(Voice monotone, hollow, completely stripped of humanity)
Let him go, Cas
The Castiel entity pauses, it's grip tightening slightly on Sam's throat, but it sorry turns its head towards Dean.
CASTIEL
He makes you weak, Dean. He keeps you tethered to the dirt.
DEAN
(Walking into the room stepping over the salt line without a flinch)
I told you. I'm yours. The world can burn. But you don't touch the kid. We had a deal.
The entity stares at Dean for a long, suffocating moment. Then, then with a sudden release, it drops Sam to the floor. Sam collapses, coughing violently, clutching his blistered neck.
Dean doesn't look down at Sam. He doesn't look at Mary, who is struggling to stand. His black eyes are locked onto Castiel with an intense, terrifying, codependent devotion. He reaches out, wrapping his hand around the entity's dark, tar stained wrist.
DEAN
Come on. We're leaving. They won't look for us anymore. Right, Sammy?
Sam looks up from the floor, tears mixing with the sweat on his face. He sees his brother, the man who raised him, the man who used to laugh over pie and cheeseburgers completely consumed by a cosmic nightmare, acting as a willing pet to a god.
Sam
(Voice broken, weeping)
Dean…what did he do to you? What did you let him do to you?
Dean finally looks down at Sam. A tiny, faint shadow of a smile touches his lips, but it's cold. Totally vacant.
DEAN
He loved me, Sammy. and nobody ever loved me enough to destroy the world for it. See ya around.
Dean tones, and the Castiel entity wraps its massive, tattered wings around him. A deafening crack of thunder shakes and motel to his foundation, and in a flash of blinding, black light, they vanish.
The room goes quiet. The rain beats against the window.
Sam sits on the floor, staring at the empty space where his brother just stood, realizing that the hunt was never over but his brother was the monster now.
Act VI: The Crumbling of Reality
INT. BUNKER - MAIN LIBRARY - DAY (OR NIGHT - TIME HAS LOST MEANING)
The bunker is bleeding. The concrete walls are cracked, weeping a thick, luminescent blue angelic grace mixed with black tar. The overhead lights don't just flicker; they pulse in a rhythmic, agonizing heartbeat. Outside, the world is tearing at the seams. SAM stands over the map table. The radar and tracking equipment are fried, spitting sparks. Maps of the United States are spread out, but the coastlines are completely redrawn. Entire states are marked with massive, black-veined craters.
MARY stands beside him, bandage wraps tight around her ribs. She stares at a static-filled television monitor. A panicked news anchor’s audio cuts in and out.
NEWS ANCHOR (V.O.)
(Static) ...unexplained gravity distortions in the Midwest... the sky has retained a deep, midnight hue for forty-eight hours... scientists report the Earth’s electromagnetic field is... (screaming, loud explosion, static)
SAM
It’s not just a localized storm anymore. They’re warping the fabric.
MARY
Because a human soul wasn’t meant to fuse with the Void, Sam. Dean’s humanity is dragging the physics of the Empty into our world, and Cas’s grace is giving it the power to anchor here.
SAM (Voice tight, absolute)
They’re turning Earth into their own private purgatory. They’re rewriting existence just so they can exist together without rules. If they don't stop, the universe collapses into absolute zero in less than a week.
MARY
Then we don't have a choice. We can’t save him, Sam. You saw him. His soul is a battery for that thing now.
SAM(Closing his eyes, taking a shuddering breath)
I know. We have to kill them both.
Act VII: The Final Weapon
INT. BUNKER - ARCHIVE ROOM - NIGHT
Sam stands before an ancient, reinforced iron vault. He types a complex code into the digital keypad. The heavy door thuds open, hissing with pressurized air.Inside, resting on a velvet cushion, is a terrifying weapon: a jagged, heavy blade forged from a mixture of an Archangel blade, Death’s scythe, and obsidian from the deepest layer of Hell. It glows with a sickening, unstable violet light.
MARY
The Genesis Blade. Chuck’s first draft of a reset button. Are you sure it will work?
SAM (Lifting the heavy weapon; the energy arcs violently against his skin)
It doesn't just kill an angel, Mom. It unmakes whatever it touches. It erases the essence completely. If I drive this into Cas, it destroys the Void’s anchor. But if Dean is fused to him…
MARY
...Dean gets unmade too. No Heaven. No Hell. Total non-existence.
SAM (His jaw sets, a terrifying, cold resolve overtaking his face)
He died the day he walked into that dark room and let that thing consume him. This isn't murder anymore, Mom. It’s an extraction.
Act VIII: The Unmaking
EXT. THE EYE OF THE STORM - LAWRENCE, KANSAS - NIGHT
The cemetery where their mother once died is now the epicenter of the apocalypse. The sky is a swirling vortex of pitch-black clouds and bleeding blue lightning. The gravestones are floating, suspended in zero gravity. The air is so thick with cosmic pressure that every breath tastes like copper and ash.
In the center of the ruined graveyard, floating inches above the cracked earth, are DEAN and CASTIEL. They are physically entwined, their bodies fused together by ribbons of black tar and blinding grace. Dean’s eyes are wide, solid black, staring into Castiel’s equally void eyes. They aren't speaking. They are communicating in a silent, telepathic frequency that causes the grass around them to wither and burst into blue flame. A loud CRACK of a shotgun echoes. Mary stands at the gates, firing salt-and-iron rounds to draw their attention.
MARY
DEAN! LOOK AT ME!
The fused entity turns in unison, their movements perfectly synchronized, like a two-headed predator.
CASTIEL/DEAN (Voices layered together, a horrifying harmony of angel and broken man)
Mother. Brother. You trespass on our church.
Sam steps out from behind a shattered mausoleum. The Genesis Blade is unsheathed, lighting up the dark graveyard in a violent, blinding violet hue.
SAM
It ends tonight, Cas. Look at what you’re doing to the world! Look at what you’re doing to him!
DEAN/CASTIEL
(Dean’s voice suddenly takes prominence, warped and mocking)
The world was a cage, Sammy. We broke the bars. Why would we ever go back?
SAM
Because you're killing everyone, Dean! You're destroying everything you ever fought to protect! The entity descends, their boots touching the dead grass. Castiel’s massive, oily black wings unfurl, blocking out the bleeding sky.
CASTIEL/DEAN
Then let it die. It is a small price for eternity.
With a sonic boom, the entity lunges. Mary throws herself forward, firing an angel-killing blade from a pneumatic wrist-bow. The blade strikes Castiel’s shoulder, but the metal instantly melts into sludge against his cosmic armor. The entity backhands her, sending Mary crashing into a stone pillar. She lies still, coughing blood. SAM
MOM!
Sam doesn't hesitate. He channels every ounce of his hunting instinct, his grief, and his rage. He swings the Genesis Blade. The entity dodges with unnatural speed, but the sheer cosmic back-draft of the blade cuts into Dean’s side. Instead of blood, a blinding mix of black tar and white grace pours from the wound.
Dean screams a raw, human sound of pure agony that echoes with Castiel’s celestial screech.
CASTIEL/DEAN
You dare try to separate us?!
Castiel raises his hand, an explosion of kinetic energy slamming into Sam. Sam is thrown backward, the Genesis Blade slipping from his grip, sliding across the mud. The entity walks toward him, their collective face twisted in absolute, monstrous fury. Castiel’s hand extends, fingers forming claws of pure darkness, aiming directly for Sam’s heart.
CASTIEL/DEAN
We will erase you from his memory.
Sam crawls desperately through the mud, his fingers scraping against the grass. His hand wraps around the hilt of the Genesis Blade just as the entity towers over him. With a final, desperate cry, Sam doesn't aim for Castiel. He aims for his brother. Sam drives the Genesis Blade upward, burying it deep into Dean’s chest, directly through his heart. The graveyard goes completely, violently silent. The wind stops. The bleeding lightning freezes in the sky.The entity gasps. Dean’s eyes suddenly flash from solid black back to their original, human green. The translucent, black veins on his face begin to dissolve into violet ash. He looks down at the blade sticking out of his chest, then up at Sam.
DEAN
(Voice trembling, completely human, broken)
Sammy…
CASTIEL
(A separate, panicked, agonizing scream from within the entity.
No! No! The anchor is breaking! Dean! Hold onto me!
Dean looks at Castiel. For the first time in six months, there is terror in his eyes not of dying, but of the realization of what he had become. He reaches up, his trembling hand touching Castiel’s cheek one last time.
DEAN
Cas... it hurts. We... we burned it all down, didn't we?
CASTIEL
(Tears of pure grace leaking from his eyes, his form beginning to fragment into particles of light)
I loved you... I loved you so much I destroyed the stars for you…
DEAN
(A faint, tragic smile, his body beginning to turn into violet dust) I know, man. I know. Dean looks back at Sam. The older brother is entirely back, carrying the weight of a lifetime of protection, mixed with the peace of a man who is finally being allowed to rest.
DEAN (CONT'D)
Good shot, kiddo. Take care of Mom.
The Genesis Blade detonates in a silent, blinding shockwave of violet and white light. The cosmic vortex in the sky implodes, collapsing inward until the normal, starlit night sky of Kansas returns. The floating gravestones crash heavily back into the earth. The black tar evaporates into harmless steam. Sam is thrown flat on his back. He opens his eyes, gasping for air. The center of the graveyard is empty. No bodies. No ashes. No souls to mourn. Just a scorched circle of grass where his brother and an angel had rewritten the laws of love and destruction, leaving nothing behind. Sam slowly gets to his feet, his body aching, his soul completely hollowed out. He walks over to Mary, helping her sit up against the stone pillar. They look up at the quiet, normal night sky. The world is saved. But the Winchester story is completely over.
