Author note
Hey you.
Yes, you, the one who opened this story when the world is quiet and the night is still.
I'm really glad you found your way to this story.
Before you begin, there are a few things I want you to know about this story, and about why I wrote it.
This is not a story about a man who cheated. There is no dramatic betrayal in these pages, no lipstick on a collar, no confession at midnight.
What is here is quieter than that. And I think you will find, as you read, that quiet things can hurt the most.
Because the slow kind of losing someone, the ones that happen across a hundred ordinary days, without a single moment you can point to, is the kind that doesn't show itself.
It just arrives one day, fully formed, and you realise you have been grieving for months without giving it a name .
Zara Sterling is not a perfect woman, but, a warm one. A clear-eyed woman , who loved deeply, warned clearly , was dismissed every time, and who eventually ran out of reasons to keep explaining herself to a man who had decided he already understood everything .
Alexander Sterling is not a villain.
He is something harder to forgive than that, a good man with a blind spot the size of his marriage. A man who loved his wife genuinely and lost her anyway. Watching him understand what that means is the whole story.
This will not be a quick forgiveness story.
She will not forgive because he shows up with flowers. He will earn every single inch of the way back, slowly, honestly, entirely on her terms.
If you are here for the grovel, stay. It is coming.
If you are here for her, stay. She is worth every page.
Welcome to the journey of Zara, Alexander & little Noah.
If the story touches your heart, do vote and comment, I read every single one and they mean more than I can say.❤️❤️😊
