THE LAST ORDINARY DAY

Date: June 14

Year: 2026

Pen Lapu woke up sweaty, Catching his breath. Pen confusedly said, seriously? The dream had returned again?!

For as long as Pen could remember, strange dreams had followed him. Dreams that felt far too vivid to be ordinary imagination. Tonight, still the same, after a brief moment, he stood somewhere unfamiliar.

The sky looked wrong, simply make him feels something different. He Saw lights like it’s a shooting star shifted whenever he tried to focus on it. Fragments of his dreams sometimes pop out into his mind. Coastline collides Stone pathway that didn’t know where it reaches, Pair of enormous doors that looks very hard to open, endless black spots come and go floating in his eyesight, Each image felt important. Yet the moment he tried to understand it, everything slipped away. Then the dream collapsed again.

Pen found himself sitting upright in bed. The sun shine through the curtains of his small apartment. sounds of the city drifted through the open window. car engines, distant conversations. street vendors beginning another day of business like the usual. Normal, everything was so normal. Pen rubbed his eyes and sighed. Pen 2 hands holding his head “Another weird one, waking up always midnight from the dream is giving me so much headache and sleepless nights ...” Pen had long since stopped trying to understand the dreams that come and go. And left nothing behind except questioning why he is dreaming those dreams, Pen was a ordinary nineteen-year-old student from a coastal city in PINES country, a man who is good at playing computer strategy games, A man who spent far too much time analyzing and day dreaming things nobody else cared about.

And the rest of the day passed as normal day. Stores still opened, Students still attended classes normally, construction workers complained about deadlines and payouts, families discussed dinner plans and outings, friends argued over trivial matters and gossiping. across the world, people in the world followed routines they believed would continue with the same old same old manner, nobody knew they were living through the final ordinary day in human history, that evening, Pen found himself inside his favorite internet café, the familiar sounds of keyboards and excited voices filled the room.

A strategy online game occupied his monitor, His teammates were already panicking, “PENPEN!!, they’re attacking the eastern objective!” “We’re surrounded by those ugly necromancers! “We’re done!” Pen didn’t bunch focusing and studied the battlefield, few movements few predictions few carefully placed commands. after pen thoroughly analyze the battlefield, victory appeared across the screen of him and his teammates. teammates erupted in celebration. One of them laughed. “I swear you’re cheating. “Pen replied: no I’m not LOL “Then how do you always predict what everyone’s going to do? “Pen leaned back in his chair and said People tent to follow patterns in real life and also in games His friends confused ask what does that even mean? “It means most everything you do everything you planned are predictable, even in a game you play, there will be a pattern on how they move, how they react to each time theres action, “His teammates groaned with respect like Pen is a star “ Pen just smile and said cheerful its because I AM A GENIUS BWAHAHAH pen online teammate just laugh with him. they never understood his answer. Most people looked at events. Pen is more unique than any normal people pen looks at the reasons behind everything, patterns, possibilities, outcomes. It was simply how his mind worked.

Later that night, pen says goodbye to his friend and began walking home. The city was silent. cool sea breeze drifted his face, people hurried and go home without paying attention to the horizon. Pen stopped; His eyes staring at the distant line far away , The here view never changed pen quote, Tomorrow would come, waves would still be there, city would still be there. Life would continue exactly as it meant, Everything is in Repeat, Pen in dismay “Maybe this is the path of growing old hahaha laughing by himself” The thought should have comforted him. Instead, he felt strangely empty, Pen wasn’t unhappy, He is desperate. He does dream about becoming rich. But not famous or powerful. Yet he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. There has to be something more in his frequent dream and day dream of fantasy. The thought appeared suddenly, magic, monsters. Just... more a larger world. Something worth discovering. Something beyond the horizon. Eventually, Pen shook his head and continued walking and quote damn this imagination. The sea remained silent behind him.

That same night, unusual reports quietly appeared around the world. birds were startled; compasses is not stable keep moving left and right, no one notices. Several satellites recorded anomalies but the worker is asleep and failed to identify it. Minor reports from civilians were ignored, the world had more important things to worry about, a pattern was built but that didn’t startle the world, No one realized the world itself was changing.

As the night of June 14, 2026, finally settled across the planet, ordinary people just did what they always did to prep for tomorrow. Kids scrambled to bed, alarms were clicked on for early morning shifts, and government offices mapped out strategies for upcoming elections. Families prayed together, making mundane little promises they fully intended to keep, and absolutely everyone looked toward the horizon with total confidence.

In the end, people will only remember this. June 14, 2026 was the last of the ordinary day in human history. That night, all people went to sleep believing tomorrow would be no different from yesterday, they could not have been more wrong. That night, Pen found himself staring at the ceiling, daydreaming again Pen: tomorrow would be another ordinary day. At least, that was what he told himself, Eventually, Pen is asleep. And somewhere beyond human sight, world prepared to change.

the sun rose the next morning shining the earth, people would discover that the world was far larger than it had ever imagined, boundaries of reality would shatter, impossible would become ordinary, And the age of ordinary humanity would come to an end. The world Pen had spent his entire life searching and dreaming for was waiting beyond the dawn.

Pen and the rest of the world simply didn’t know it yet.
