Summary

Dear Readers, Some stories begin with a confession. Some begin with a first date. And some begin with a simple friendship that quietly becomes unforgettable. The Boy Who Sat Beside Me is a story about growing up, shared lunches, stolen glances, unanswered questions, and memories that refuse to fade with time. It is about the people who leave an imprint on our hearts without ever realizing it, and the "what ifs" that stay with us long after the moment has passed. While this story is fictionalized, it is inspired by real emotions, real memories, and the kind of nostalgia that many of us carry somewhere within ourselves. If you've ever had a friend you couldn't forget, a crush you never confessed to, or a question that remained unanswered for years, perhaps you'll find a piece of yourself in these pages. Thank you for giving this story a chance. I hope it makes you smile, laugh, reminisce, and maybe even remember someone you once sat beside. Happy Reading! — Aarohi Garg

Chapter 1: The Dream That Opened an Old Door

At 6:12 AM, Aarohi woke up with her heart racing.

She had seen him again.

Arjun.

The tall boy from tenth grade who had left the city six years ago.

In her dream, she was standing in the old school corridor. The walls, the notice board, even the smell felt real. Then she saw him.

“Why are you staring?” he asked with a smile.

“Because you’re supposed to be gone,” she replied.

For a moment, everything became silent.

Then she finally said the words she had never spoken in real life.

“I liked you.”

Arjun smiled.

“I know.”

Her heart stopped.

“Then why didn’t you say anything?”

“Because you never did.”

He looked into her eyes and said the one thing she had wondered about for years.

“I liked you too.”

The alarm rang.

The dream shattered.

Aarohi sat up in bed and stared at the ceiling.

Six years.

How could it already be six years?

She grabbed her phone and texted her best friend, Maya.

“I dreamed about him again.”

The reply came instantly.

“The tall idiot?”

Aarohi smiled.

“The tall idiot.”

Maybe that was why she could never completely forget him.

Not because he was her first love.

But because he was the question that never got answered.

Jessica: Tbh I wasn't expecting much from this app but God damn this book was excellent. The character build up was slow at times but really on point because of it. The actions of the characters made sense and added depth to them instead of just feeling like the plot needed to be moved forward. I also never ...
