Chapter 1: The beginning
Clifford Stelling hasn't always been like this, with everything put together. He was just another love struck teenager with big dreams of leaving his hometown and building an empire with his best friend and lover besides him but things have a tendency of not going according to plan...
Clifford
I've been coming to this exact bus station for two months now and still go back alone, I know I had said it as a joke but I meant it and it has become clear to me that she took it as a joke, I've tried calling a few times but hang up with the fear of being ridiculed, I dont know why I cant think straight when it comes to Lindsey but today is my last day of putting my life on hold with the hope that she will finally see things my way, I need to see to it that the empire i dream about becomes reality. I've already rented a one bedroom apartment in the city that will serve as both my residential and office space, I didn't have much coming here, just enough to start me up after all I'm just a small town boy with big dreams hoping that the city is where they'll come true.
Every penny I have to my name I worked hard for, I never knew my father and my mother left me with her mom when I was just a little boy, my grandmother didn't have time for me either because she had to work two jobs just to make sure that we pay bills so my survival skills had to be developed at an early age, I'm not even worried about my move to the city, the only thing thats bothering me is that my best friend didn't keep her promise. I had big plans for the both of us and she went back on her word so now I must focus on success so that I can make grandma proud and she can finally rest knowing her boy can look after her now.
As I lay in this single bed I make mental notes for my day tomorrow as we all know that time waits for no man so i cant afford to waste anymore time, two months has gone by already and the only thing I have to show for it is a broken heart, the first thing is to set up meetings with potential investors and polish up my presentation and hope that it all works out...I really need to give a 110% effort, I need this to work out not just for me but for Lindsey to see that i wasn't just selling her a dream.
Lindsey
I packed everything I believe I needed to start a new life in the city, although Cliff had said I shouldn't bother packing because he has a plan and he'll take care of me but I didn't want to be a burden to him after all he has done so much for me already without expectations and I could never repay him, with my bus ticket in hand and my bags packed I was ready to go see the world and conquer it with my best friend on my side except for one thing; I haven't told my parents that I'm leaving home to go be with a boy in a place I don't know and I'm not going to be studying medicine like they'd hoped I will...and that was the most hardest thing to do. On the day before the one we were meant to leave together I spent the whole morning gathering strength to face my parents and went over my speech a hundred times but still when the time came I chickened out.
Two months have passed now and I still haven't gathered enough strength to tell Cliff what had really happened and I know it's selfish of me to keep him in the dark like this but there's no easy way for me to face him, I hope he was able to do all that he said he will do once we reach the city, I hope his dreams turned to reality and it would break my heart if all this time he has been waiting for me...
