The Other Side of Sleep
It was 12:57 a.m. I was exhausted. My boss made me redo the entire presentation because of a simple error. He said it was unacceptable. He kept talking, but I chose not to pay attention to it. When I corrected the error, I went to sleep with a strange feeling like something was waiting for me on the other side of sleep. I chose to ignore it because that’s what normal people do, right? However, I was not normal. I had been obsessed with going beyond Earth since I was a kid, but I knew it was impossible for me to do that. I was not an astronaut—I was just a regular person who fixes presentations late at night. While I was thinking that, I realized I was falling asleep. I pushed those thoughts out of my head and lay down on my bed. When I finally fell asleep, I started dreaming about being inside a spaceship to go to the moon to explore its surface and different craters. It felt so real that I didn’t want to wake up. But I did.
