Chapter 1: Althea's Perspective
Althea_Cleric has joined the game.
"“After eight years, at last, we have one”
A girl who seemed to appear out of thin air, looks around to find herself in what appears to be a throne ring, a well taken care of one at that, before looking towards the direction of the stern voice.
“My name is King Ambrosius, ruler of the Starfall Kingdom, you’ve been expected to arrive for years now. I suppose fate has been testing our patience.”
“King? What are you even talking about, am I in downtown again? I swear I didn’t use that needle on the ground.”
Why am I holding a sta-
“You may think this is a bit odd, but you aren’t there anymore. You aren’t in that former home of yours. You are in a game. You’re a player. The Cleric specifically, judging from your username and outfit.”
Althea looks down at her attire. Hitting her skin she feels chainmail from her neck down to her waist. White robes covering them and also the rest of her body. On top of the robes golden gauntlets and boots cover her hands and feet. Along with a red kilt around her waist.
So it’s either A: I got drunk and decided to cosplay or wait...no this is a game Im playing?
“Our new Cleric!! It’s amazing to meet you! Your outfit is so pretty. I’m so jealous! I am Teka, Starfall’s Grand Advisor, and right hand man.. I guess the right hand woman of King Ambrosious.”
Althea looks carefully at Teka, who looks to be 5′4, around the same height as her. Teka’s purple eyes stand out way more to Althea than the ginger hair, but not the eye amulet around her neck
“You look sooo confused. Don’t worryyy! I’ll explain everything to you myself. Ambro here can be pretty boring, trust me.”
“I can tell from his voice already so I’ll for sure take your word for it”
“Basicallyyy, I already know you think we are all crazy. Some of us are.. KIDDING!. But basically your in a game, do the best you can at your role and we all go home happy is all you need to worry your pretty little head with.”
I got a staff AND a little axe cosmetic on my back. Ooooh nice
“Alright, follow me, I’ll show ya around the old Breakwill.”
She seems real sweet, and those golden stars on her tunic look cute. Oh wait is that a star on my staff?
“Here is the armory, if you ever want to train, or change your armor just come here, it also has this cool little waterfall, and the statues of the previous Knight-Marshells.”
Statue of man, wearing armor with a Crow Symbol in his chest plate, helmet off with narrow eyes, pin needle straight hair with dozens of small scars across his face. The name “Alexander” is engraved in a plaque on the bottom.
Another Statue, a man in full armor including his helmet, with a Phoenix symbol on his chestplate, a cape shaped like the wings of a phoenix wings, and a helmet the shape of a phoenix’s head. The name “Caskell” is engraved in a plaque at the bottom.
“Train? As in, leveling up my stats? Where do I see that?”
“Wrong time of game little Cleric. We don’t have stats, we can train and become stronger but like regular people.”
"How realistic is this game jeez? Am I meant to get strong? I do have an axe”
“I know there’s dozens of questions in your little canoodle, but don’t worry, just be a good religious leader of a faith you’ve never heard of and all’s well ends well right.”
“Oh right, I’m a cleric after all. Wait, they’ve been waiting on a leader for 8 years!?”
“Last one tried to overthrow the King, led to half the council dying, so they decided maybe it was a sign to wait for a while. Your problem now though. Hahaha, but you have us to help.”
“Grand advisor already giving out excellent advice it seems”
A tomato hits Althea’s head and it’s rotten.
“Suprise Suprise SUPRISEE!!!”
Althea turns to see a man wearing a jester’s outfit, black and purple, studied with smiling faces with star for eyes, and he’s wearing makeup half his face in white makeup with swirls that are red and a yellow eye, the other half green with swords and stars and his other eye blue.
“Go away Bart. Your jokes suck and your not going to torture the new girl.”
The Jester smiles and laughs.
“I choose NOT to dwell on such absurdities, the ridiculous notion of me being unfunny is simply not possible, my dear!”
Althea attempts to get rid of the splatted tomato on her head but it wont budge. The more she tries the more annoyed her face becomes until she eventually just cracks a smile.
“You mind getting this off of me now? This fake tomato thingy.”
“How did you-”
“I know a lie when I see one, clown boy.”
Bart sighs and snaps his fingers which makes the tomato disappear, and Althea’s brunette hair goes back to how it was before the tomato damage.
“But you have just arrived in the game, is sensing magic one the perks of a Cleric?”
“Perks?”
Teka nudges Bart to the side almost as if it was muscle memory.
“OHH right, every player here along with our roles has these fun little perks that give us advantages, basically power ups.”
The second the thought of perks cross Althea, three of them, already linked to her brain, cross her mind.
Morale Increase, Sanity Increase, Healing Magic
Teka takes a quick glance at Althea’s staff before returning to her
“Im pretty sure I feel magic coming from that staff of yours”
Sure enough, the staff on top of the staff begins to glow a green color
Afterwards, Althea and Teka walked away from the Jester leaving him to his own devices
Bartholomew frowned.
Teka opened the chamber to the entrance of the castle revealing a vast city.
“Welcome to Starfall, Althea!”
