Finding the Right Fit
A teacher driving a long way from my area I live in
With my mum and my teacher
Looking around the school to see if this is the right fit for my needs
Coming into high school, giving the impression on the environment
That everything was so different to the school I went to
Leaving me the inability to be aware of the surroundings of the school
Thought it was so big compared to my primary school
Bet it will be the crowds of people coming out of their classrooms
Rushing through the corridors to play outside or hang out with their friends
The classroom was so unfamiliar to me
With class full of special needs people
With class full of people with different background cultures
Experiencing different needs compared to me
Will be the good benefit for my needs
Meeting new people, meeting new faces
Having new teachers with an understanding of my communication and language needs
Having new teachers with an understanding of my social and emotional needs
But did not know if I will be provided for an EHCP by a teacher
Getting the safe support I need
Being given the timetable on my planner to get me to know where everything is
Liking everything to be labelled so this will help me know where everything is
But can sometimes get lost, can be all over the place with everything
'Cause the classrooms are too confusing for my liking
Trying to fit in with the environment
Trying to fit in with the new people I have never worked with
Trying to build some familiarity with the new teachers
Whom I never worked with
But trying to build a social connection with teachers or the environment to where I am
