We
A pair of twins ending up at the same orphanage was a strange occurrence that didn’t happen frequently. Normally twins were split up and sent to different orphanages to stop them from piecing together their past. One day Isabella had her work cut out for her when she received the pair of babies. 93149 and 94149 were a strange set of twins. They were identical in every way. At first glance, it was easy to confuse them, but if you got to know them you could tell them apart from a mile away. It was the tiny details that set the two apart.
You always felt like you belonged at Grace Field Orphanage. It felt like home after you and your sister got abandoned as babies. The only adult figure that has ever been in your life was Momma Isabella. She helped us all, the problem never mattered. We were one big happy family here at Grace field even though every month or two one of us had to leave because we would get adopted. They were always sad times, but you and your sister always made sure they left with a smile on their face. Even though not much was provided at the orphanage you held small concerts every week.
You guys were really inseparable and got into trouble often together. You were held to high standards with all the younger kids especially with Phil and Sherry. If you weren’t with the others: Emma, Ray, and Norman; you were either ‘scaring’ Isabella or hanging out with Phil and Sherry.

The Morning bell blared through the hallways of the Orphanage, but you and Artemis, your twin, ignored it. You both barely got any sleep that night because you were thinking of a song to sing to Conny. Since today was her last day you wanted to make it special even if that meant taking her away from Don for a while.
“Good Morning Everyone!!! Time to get up or you’ll miss breakfast!!!” The ginger shouted.
You blocked out her yelling and put the pillow over your head hoping they’ll just ignore you for a while. Artemis didn’t seem to be affected by the lack of sleep because you can hear her yelling and running after the others. She seems to thrive off 3 hours of sleep. You were about to drift back off to sleep when you feel tiny hands smacking the pillow on your head.
“(Y/n)~” the 4-year-old whined. You simply groaned back at her and try to ignore her. You knew she would get upset, but you were too tired to really deal with it. She took your negligence as a challenge and started jumping on your bed.
“Alright, that’s it, Sherry!” You said getting up and chasing her around the room. You caught her and tackled her onto Emma’s bed while you both laughed. “Come on you have to get dressed”
“But you weren’t waking up.” She complained
“You’re always so caring Sherry and that’s what makes you special!” You said while lifting her into the air.
“(Y/n) and Sherry HURRY UP!” your twin yelled from down the hall. You didn’t know what she was taking, but you wanted it after seeing her this hyper in the morning.
“Alright let’s get you dressed”
“Yay!!”
You were already behind so you didn’t have time to properly comb through your hair since you gave most of your time to Sherry. You put your hair up into a messy bun. Over the years, you perfected the art of shaping a messy bun, so even though it’s unorganized it looks clean and put together. You and Sherry walked to the dining hall hand in hand to be greeted by the others.
“Good Morning (y/n), I was worried you wouldn’t get up today. I’m glad Sherry was able to wake you.”
“Sorry, Mama! I was so focused on finding the perfect song for Conny” You said while hugging her. She always gave the best hugs especially when You barely slept. Something about her embrace was so intoxicating and comforting. You could spend all day hugging her.
“Morning sleepy head!”
“How are you so awake, you went through the same thing like me!” You said while violently shaking her.
“This isn’t our first rodeo (n/n) get over it,” she said as she punched my shoulder and walked away.
“Good Morning Emma, Norman,” you said before you let out a big yawn. “Where’s Ray?”
“Morning (Y/N)” the two 11-year-olds responded. Well more like Norman responded as Emma got attacked by the younger kids.
“Oh, and the last time I saw Ray he was near the library,” the albino says before helping set up breakfast.
“Yo (Y/n) Morning,” the ravenette said.
“Oh! Ray, I was looking for you” you say while giving him a hug which he totally shuts down. “Rude much.” You mutter while giving him a pouting face. He totally dismisses it and continues.
“You know what is rude?”
“What?” You said while deadpanning.
“The fact you can’t take care of the things you’re given,” he says while giving you your gloves, mp3, and headphones.
“Oh! I must’ve left them in the library last night.” You say while collecting your belongings. Ray always looked out for you and your twin despite you two being opposites. He was more of the calm and collected type while you were loud and all over the place.
“I’m surprised Momma didn’t notice when you greeted her this morning”
“It was the hair” you mention while pointing to your head. Even though your twins, Artemis would never be caught dead putting her hair up. She cherished her long hair and thought of it as a gift from God. You didn’t really understand her, but you also didn’t question it.
While you two were talking Phil ran in between you with the bell notifying everyone that breakfast was ready.
“(Y/N)! Ray Breakfast” he said while smiling at the two of you.
“Alright, Phil no need to be sprinting this early, save it for Tag,” you say while picking him up.
“Do the thing!!”
“The thing?” Ray said while giving you a look of confusion. You didn’t bother explaining it to him, so you ran off with Phil of your shoulders making airplane noises. Even though you had no energy that morning Phil and Sherry seem to give you that boost to keep going.
-Breakfast-
“So what’s the big plan for Conny?” Emma said while giving off a copious amount of excitement.
“Not really much of a secret now. You left your plans wide open in the library”
“Wow! You looked through it” you said slumping down into your chair almost knocking over your orange juice. “ARTEMIS”
“I mean he already knows what we’re doing.... so he can help us.” She says while smirking. “Momma always says the more the merrier”
“Looks like you pushed yourself into this one Ray.” Norman laughed at his complaining state.
“The things I get for looking out for you guys.”
“Aww, Don’t be like that! Think of it as a thank you!” You both said at the same time.
“Creepy~” the ginger whispered as she got up.
“Hey! Take that back” you yelled going after her.
“NEVER! YOU’LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE” she giggled back
“I’ll show you everything you have to do during playtime,” Artemis said.” (Y/N) going to spend most of her time with Conny today, so it’ll just be us”
“Yeah okay”
- Daily Test Time -
Age 11 Type 1: Answer each question within 10 seconds, when you hear the tone begin
As the automated message is finished an anxious feeling rises in you. After your one on one talks with Phil, you both take these tests seriously. The very thought of failing these tests didn’t sit well with you. You don’t really have to worry about your scores, but you still do because you don’t always hit that 300 Mark like Ray, Emma, and Norman; but it does come often enough to be constantly praised by Momma.
Flashback
You were sitting up in the lonely tree out in the field. The one Ray always sat under. You weren’t really doing much but you hummed a soft tune of a song Akko used to sing to you. It had been a while since she left the orphanage and she gave you her headphones to remember bye. They weren’t the best quality and were seriously outdated but you cherished them anyways. Akko was like a second Momma to you and Artemis. She was smart, athletic, and had a voice of an Angel. In Artemis’s opinion, she had better lullabies than Momma.
It had been a good week or two since she had been adopted and you were being really distant. Even Artemis couldn’t get close to you with you lashing out. You didn’t really care about anything and thus your test scores dropped. They used to be a consistent 175-208, but they fell to 119-138. You didn’t think much about it, but Ray got worried for you. He noticed your test scores dropping and he noticed Momma talking about you in her office. He didn’t like the fact that you were sad, but he also didn’t like the thought of losing you. Even though to others he seemed to hate you and Artemis, he was intrigued about you two.
He never told you why, but he started sitting under your tree of sadness. He never spoke a word to you, but his presence was strong. It wasn’t annoying, if anything Ray’s presence was something you needed and it felt nice even if he didn’t say anything. All you would hear was the occasional book page-turning in between Akko’s playlist of three songs. Suddenly one day he started talking.
“(Y/n) you know you can’t keep spending all day up there,” he said without looking in your direction. You were honestly surprised he said anything. He has been staying there for the past three days and he only spoke up now.
“I heard Momma’s been talking about you....” his voice didn’t seem happy, it sounded like Terrance’s voice the day Akko got adopted. “...about how your test scores a really low. She said she might have to move you if your scores don’t improve.”
“What do scores have to do about anything Ray. It isn’t like they decide your life...” he seemed taken aback by your response. He never expected you to talk because you haven’t uttered a word in weeks. “I’m just tired Ray... tired of everything. We make new friends here and then when you least expect it they have to leave... WHAT’S THE POINT OF MAKING FRIENDS IF THEY ARE GOING TO LEAVE AND NOT WRITE BACK”
“You wanna come down here and talk about it?” He said while patting the ground next to him. It didn’t take your 6-year-old self long to get down the tree. When you finally touched the ground you took your seat next to him. You put your head on his shoulders and cried your eyes out. Your eyes were all swollen and puffy, but you heard a soft lullaby being hummed. It was the one momma always hummed but it wasn’t coming from her, it was coming from Ray.
It was soothing and brought your tears to a halt. You were still trying to get your breathing together but continued to listen to him.
“You know if you don’t want to leave yourself, you should get your test scores up” he spoke softly as he rubbed your back. He wasn’t the best at comforting people, but her tried his best when it came to you and your sister.
“Really? So I don’t have to leave as Akko did?” You said while getting excited.
“We could stay here together. But you have to put more effort into your exams” he said while giving you a reassuring smile. It made you feel warm inside. Momma never really understood the pain of losing someone you thought. So talking to Ray about your problems made him happy.
“I will I promise! And when we get old enough we can leave here and explore the world!” You said while laughing. This was the only time you let your exam grades slip, but you never knew the consequences of it.
Flashback end
Phil had dreams about what might happen, but you didn’t think they were true. They gave him nightmares and you always comforted him about them. The elapsed time of an hour passed and the exams were done. You were nervous about your grade because you felt like you didn’t do well. 10 seconds wasn’t really a lot of time, so you guessed on the last 25 questions. Momma only said the scores of people who got perfect scores. Obviously, Emma, Norman, Ray, and Artemis got perfect scores. They have been getting perfect scores since they were younger.
“Congratulations you five! Momma said while looking surprised.
‘Five!! It normally is always four. I wonder who the fifth one is?’You thought while repeating tapped your foot. You and a few other ten-year-olds were getting antsy waiting for Momma to continue.
“Emma, Ray, Norman, Artemis, and (Y/n) got perfect scores,” she said while giving each of us a proud smile.
“YEAH! LET’S GO” the twins shouted at the same time.
“You guys really are the same,” Ray said while putting his heads down.
“Hey, now you’re coming with me, sir!” She said while dragging Ray outside to the tree.
“Norman! I challenge you to a game of tag!” Don said while facing his albino senior.
“Perfect! Since you’re focused on beating Norman! I’ll take Conny with me today!” I said while walking up to him.
