Mia (Cora) - 1

Vallea slowly came around shit where was she? Shit Marco has been shot, was he dead? All the past events came flooding back. She was all alone and her brother was dead. Who had taken her out of the car? All she could remember was screaming out as Marco got shot, then she blacked out. “Nice to see you are finally awake and with us Val honey.”

She knew that voice but it couldn’t be? Could it? “Dom.”

He smiled caressing her face with his finger tips. “I’ve missed you Val. I didn’t think this day would ever come again, but my brother had more ideas than just leaving you be especially now that you are pregnant.”

“How do you know?”

He smirked evilly. That asshole doctor. He must’ve contacted that dumb ass family doctor of there’s once the pregnancy was confirmed. But, why had it taken them so long?

He slipped his hand into his pocket displaying a scan photo now she knew they’d been payed off to get all the information they needed on her pregnancy before confronting Nicolo. He smiled looking at it. “I wonder who the father is Val?”

“How did you get that?”

“Oh this? Nicolo has one to. Wait until he finds out that you not only screwed him, but me too.”

“You wouldn’t.”

“Oh I would.”

“You can’t, he’ll kill us both.”

“A risk worth taking, unless you can change my mind.”

“How?”

“Get a patently test for a start. I can put my mind at rest, so I can let go of you.”

“No!I don’t want to know.”

“Then I’ll have no choice but to tell him.”

“No you can’t.”

“Just watch me Val!” He said getting up kissing her forehead. “I still love you Val, so for all our sakes make the right choice.” He said walking out of the room closing the door behind him.

Tears fell off her face she never wanted any of this why couldn’t they just forget about her and move on after all she had.

~

Nicolo walked into the room. “Sit up angel have something to eat.”

“I’m not hungry.”

“That’s not a request’ its an order.”

“You can’t order me around Nicola, you’re not my father!”

“Please eat, you have to stay strong for the baby.”

She pulled her up, he placed the tray on her lap full of pastries and apple juice. “Why Nicolo? Why take me away?”

“You’re carrying my child, and I’ll be damned if I’m just going to sit back and let you bring it up alone with out it father.”

“And what if it’s not yours?”

“Don’t talk shit Vallea, who’s else would it be? You’ve only ever had sex with me.”

“What do you know? I could’ve had sex with a guy from my school after I returned.”

He laughed. “You’re to far gone Vallea.”

“Maybe I did it here...”

“Don’t kid yourself Vallea, I would’ve known.”

“Whatever.”

“If your so sure of yourself you can have a paternity test but I know the baby is mine.”

“Fine it’s yours now can I eat?”

“Enjoy.” He said, getting up kissing here forehead. “I’d like you to join me and. Dom for supper so you need to get dressed. There are some clothes in the walk-in.”

She nodded.

He smiled leaving the room. He closed the door, Domienico looked at him. “So what did she say?”

“The baby’s mine.”

“Are you sure ?”

“Yes. What’s wrong Dom?”

“I have something to tell you, so don’t do what you usually do and fly of the handle. Just listen to what I have to say.”

“What’s bothering you, brother?”

“You remember how close me and Val were?”

“How could I forget. It was almost sickening to watch.”

“Well we got close really close and...” He trailed off.

“Cut the crap Dom, just get to the point!” He said, angrily.

“We slept together it wasn’t just the once either. The whole time Bella was here.”

“What!”

“I’m sorry bro.”

“I trusted you I trusted her.”

“I’m sorry I fell in love with her and I’m sorry for deciveing you, but I couldn’t help falling for her she was something else. She was so different than all the other girls I knew she was strong, fearless, gobby, feisty but caring. All I’m saying the baby might be either of ours, if not yours mine.”

He glared angrily at his brother, he should’ve seen this coming all the times that they has spent together she was east to fall I love with. “We need to talk to her”

Domienico nodded in agreement.

Vallea headed downstairs she was surprised she hadn’t forget her way there. They both looked at her. “Take a seat Vallea.”

She swallowed sitting on the single leather seat. Nicolo looked at her. “I want a paternity test.”

“Why? When you already said that it was yours.”

“I have reason to believe there was another part involved.”

“What? So now you’re getting out of taking responsibility for your own flesh and blood?”

“No I am not.” He looked at her.

“So why the change of heart?”

“Like I already told you that I have reason to beleive I was not the only one involved with you, so tell me the truth Val. Were you involved woth anyone else but me?”

“I’m not you Nicolo.”

“Answer the question.”

“No. I was not involved with anyone else.” She lied.

Nicolo looked at Domienico his teeth gritting his fists clenched tight. “Tell him Val tell him about us.”

“There was no us Dom, it’s al in your head.”

“Fucking liar! You’re a bitch Val! We had something, something good and your lying through your teeth. Tell him the truth!”

“I am. Deal with it.”

He glared angrily at her storming out.

“I want that paternity test Vallea.”

“Never.”

~

five years later.

Vallea had finally escaped the Russo brothers three years to the day. Mia was five but she could feel a storm brewing so she had contacted some people she knew. People she could trust to take care of Mia. She’d put off having a paternity test. She had no preference of knowing who Mia’s biological father was after she had lied to Nicolo about her and Domienico, he’d slapped her and told her to man up and tell Nicolo the truth so they could sort this out once and for all so they could have the god damn paternity test.

Couldn’t he see that she was she was doing this fo him, doing this for for her? The beatings came almost every night he’d turned into a monster she couldn’t believe he was someone she’d looked up to, was a froend to her and had fell for.

He was a monster.

She once thought Nicolo was, but he was worse. She had to escape. It was all a mater of timing. Once she’d had Mia the beatings got worse and he’d began to rape her. She’d lost all respect for him. Nicolo had forced him to stay away from her, but he was no better. She slept in his bed and his torture was to spend eternity with him. He’d forced the wedding band on her finger and had her sign the marriage registration certificate.

Finally she had seen a way out, she’d laced the contents of the syringe with a highly toxic drug and rammed the needle into every guards veins. She watched as they fell to the ground hurrying around the the mansion making sure that they were all out cold. Pulling her wedding ring off disposing it. She picked up Mia and feed her as fast as she could.

Now five years on they had found them, she wasn’t taking no risks. She’d give herself up to them to save Mia. She was her world no way were they taking her away from her.

Vallle looked at her. Her eyes showed sorrow through her tears she didn’t want to let her baby go she’d fought to the ends of the earth to keep her safe and now they’d found her the only way Mia could be safe was to flea Italy and start a new life a life without her.

She’d contacted people she could count on to help her and keep her only daughter safe from the Mafia as well as Nicolo and Domienico. She’d refused a paternity test when she had first became pregnant and two years later she had ran from them once Cora (Mia) had tuned eleven she had shipped her to the U.K. because the two brothers had found them.

“Baby you have to go.”

“But mom, why can’t you come?”

“It is safer this way. I can’t have you find them.”

“But they’ll kill you if they find you.”

“Please baby, you have to leave. You need to be safe. You’ll be well protected. Everythig’s sorted once you reach the U.K. the Lorenzza’s will take care of you and bring them up as their own. Please forget about me.”

“No mom.”

“Promise me.”

“I promise.”

“Now go before they come.”

Tears fell of her face. She was still traumatised by that day no no matter how much she tired to forget her mother, she couldn’t.

The door crashed open the two Russo brothers looking at Vallea, looking around the cottage. “Where is she Vallea?”

“Where’s who?”

“Mia. Where’s Mia Vallea?”

“Safe.”

They grabbed her arms. “You’re coming with us and you’re going I tell us exactly where she has gone and you’re going to help us get her back.”

“Over my dead body.”

“So be it.”

Cora (Mia)

I stepped off the airplane and I was greeted with a middle aged Italian couple. The Lorenzza’s. “You must be Cora.”

“I am.”

“Nice to finally meet you, your mother had told us slot about you. I’m Aida Lorenzza and this is my husband Alessandro Lorenzza.”

“Nice to meet you sir, madam.”

“Oh hush child just cal us Aida and Alessandro No need for sir and madam. Come let’s get you home It’s been along flight you need to rest.”

I smiled following them to the after obtaining my luggage. I finally get to see the country where my mom was brought up. Maybe I’ll meet my family. I have no idea if my mom has ever contacted them to tell them about me. Cora is my new name and Lorenzza my new surname it’s kind weird, but I guess I’ll have to get used to it to stay under the raidar.

Mr. Lorenzza. Placed my belongings into the boot joining us in the car driving away. I stare outside watching the buildings drown away as we go father into the country side all the trees becoming a blur,

The car finally comes to a hault. “We’re here sweetie. Alessandro will get your things out of the boot and I’ll show you to your room.”

I smiled, and we all get out the car. Whilst Mr. Lorenzza gathered my belongings out of the boot. I take on my surroundings. “Come on sweetie, let me show you your room.”

I smiled following her into the cottage, No looking back. I guess this will be my his from now on.

umatised by that day no no matter how much she tired to forget her mother, she couldn’t.

I smiled following then to the after obtaining my luggage. I finally get to see the country where my mom was brought up maybe I’ll meet my family I have no idea if my mom has ever contacted them to tell them about me. Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel
