Chapter 1 | The Sword Emperor's Reincarnation
The sky was shrouded in black clouds. Lightning struck relentlessly, accompanied by the roaring rain as if the heavens themselves were mourning the world.
Every step revealed nothing but a sea of corpses. Blood mixed with the rainwater, flowing into crimson rivers across the battlefield. Countless lives had been claimed in a war that knew no mercy.
Amid the devastation, only one figure remained standing.
The sword in his hand still dripped with blood. His gaze was cold, as though every trace of emotion had long since vanished.
My name is Lucifer Ashford.
People knew me by a single title...
The Sword Emperor.
The war had finally come to an end.
Humanity had claimed victory.
I was hailed as the hero who saved mankind. My name was honored throughout every kingdom, and I was eventually crowned the King of Humanity to lead the world into a new era.
But that glory was nothing more than the beginning of betrayal.
While investigating the mystery known as the Age of Darkness, I entrusted my back to the companion who had fought beside me for countless years.
It was the greatest mistake of my life.
The sword that was supposed to protect me pierced straight through my chest.
"I'm sorry, Lucifer."
Those were the last words I heard before my consciousness faded away.
After my death, my companion spread a lie across the entire world.
They were told that Lucifer Ashford, the Sword Emperor, had died heroically at the hands of the Demon King while investigating the Dark Dungeon.
No one ever learned the truth.
Their hero...
was not slain by the Demon King.
He was betrayed by the person he trusted the most.
My consciousness slowly returned.
But when I opened my eyes...
There was no sky.
No earth.
No light.
Only an endless void, swallowed by a darkness so absolute that its end could never be seen.
"...Where am I?"
My voice echoed through the emptiness.
No answer came.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness.
A black robe concealed its entire body. Its face was hidden behind an expressionless mask. Two crimson eyes stared directly into mine.
The overwhelming aura it emitted caused the very void around us to tremble.
By instinct, I reached for my sword.
But...
My hand grasped nothing.
Right...
I was dead.
At that moment...
The void was no longer empty.
One by one...
Something began to appear.
It was neither light...
Nor ordinary darkness...
But existences that transcended them both.
Five divine beings appeared at the same time, causing the void itself to shake violently.
The God of Death.
The God of War.
The God of Darkness.
The God of Fate.
The God of Chaos.
Five supreme beings that should never have existed within the same space...
Yet now, they stood before me.
I fell silent.
"...This..."
Before I could finish my sentence, their overwhelming pressure nearly crushed my very soul.
"Lucifer Ashford..."
The voice did not come from a single mouth.
It was the resonance of five divine wills speaking as one.
"The soul that has surpassed its first death."
"The soul that refused to disappear."
"And the soul whose destiny has yet to reach its end."
I slowly raised my head.
"...Who brought me back?"
Silence.
Then...
The God of Fate—Elyndor—spoke first.
"Not one of us."
"But all of us together."
The God of Death—Thaneros—continued.
"You were meant to reach your end."
"But your soul refused to accept it."
The God of Darkness—Noctharion—spoke calmly.
"There is something within you..."
"...Something that even death itself could not consume."
The God of War—Areska Valtor—smiled.
"And that interests me."
"Your war is far from over."
The God of Chaos—Varkhael—laughed softly.
"The world will eventually fall into ruin..."
"But you..."
"...You may hasten its end."
I clenched my fists.
"...Then who gave me a second life?"
Silence filled the void once more.
Then Elyndor answered.
"We did."
"Together, we created a possibility that should never have existed."
"A reincarnation beyond the boundaries of fate."
Thaneros raised his hand.
A black radiance emerged from the void.
"This is not a new life."
"It is the remnant of a death that refused to be accepted."
Noctharion gazed at me.
"And you..."
"...Will carry a truth that this world is not yet prepared to know."
Areska Valtor chuckled.
"Use this opportunity..."
"Or repeat the same ending."
Finally, Varkhael spoke.
"Rise."
"And reshape this world into something worthy of either destruction..."
"...Or salvation."
A brilliant light swallowed everything.
My body shattered...
Then was forged anew.
Before my consciousness faded once again, one final voice echoed throughout the void.
"Lucifer Ashford."
"This is not a gift."
"It is a trial."
Darkness consumed everything.
That...
Was the true story of my life.
A story never recorded in history.
A truth known only to me.
Louis Agasta...
He had become the strongest man on the continent.
But...
This was only the beginning.
Very well.
This was where everything truly began.
The beginning of my revenge.
The body I awakened in belonged to a young boy.
His name was Kaizer Ashford.
The third prince, born to King Aaron De Ashford and the Queen.
He was my own descendant...
Yet his life was nothing but misery.
His body was weak.
He possessed no talent for magic.
Within the royal palace, he was regarded as a failure.
He was endlessly mocked.
Scorned by the nobles.
Cast aside by his own siblings.
It was as though his very existence held no value.
But now...
Within the body they called worthless...
I was here.
Lucifer Ashford.
And everything...
Was about to change.
