The body of a 16-year-old boy who was reported missing was found Monday in the Progress Lake in Pointe Valley.
Pointe County police said on Sunday, at around 6 a.m., fire and rescue crews went to the lake for a report of a floating body.
The family report states that the boy had gone to visit friends and had failed to come home that night.
On Monday, around 9:30 a.m., fire and rescue crews recovered the teenager’s body. He was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators have not released the boy’s name.
We'd like to remind our younger residents that swimming in the Progress Lake is illegal, and first responders are warning people to stay away as we work on a plan to drain the lake.
So far this is the 12th body to have appeared at the lake, causing investigators to believe this is the official dumping grounds.
