Chapter 1 Beginning of the case
CASE DIARY
ENTRY 001
If you're reading this...
the police have already lost.
Not because they failed to catch me.
Because they never realized what they were looking for.
The newspapers called it The Saraswati Colony Murder.
That was their first mistake.
There was no "first" murder.
Only the first body.
Those are different things.
CHAPTER ONE
The police arrested the wrong man.
I know.
Because I helped them.
Don't worry.
You'll hate me eventually.
Just...
not yet.
You probably think this is a confession.
It's not.
Confessions begin with guilt.
This story begins with confidence.
At 6:12 a.m., someone found Raghav Gowda lying in the middle of Saraswati Colony.
His wallet was still in his pocket.
His watch still ticked.
His wedding ring hadn't been touched.
The police immediately ruled out robbery.
They were so busy asking why he died...
...that nobody asked why he was moved.
I almost laughed.
The body wasn't found where the murder happened.
It was found where I wanted it to be found.
Inspector Ravi arrived twelve minutes later.
He looked at the body.
Then at the crowd.
Then...
at me.
"You're the one who called?"
I nodded.
That was true.
He thanked me for helping.
That was his first mistake.
EVIDENCE FOUND
A folded bus ticket.
Route 23.
Stamped 11:48 p.m.
The victim had already been declared dead by then.
So...
Who used the ticket.
END OF CHAPTER ONE
The bus conductor identified the passenger the next morning.
It was the victim.
