Family Problems
Ashley awoke to a metallic taste in her mouth—A cloth covered her face as she attempted to get her bearings—where am I, she thought, the pain of rope around her wrists scraping and burning her skin. Every time she attempted to move her arms, her legs would jerk back.
She was hogtied.
"Somebody help me." She hollered as the faint aroma of cigarette smoke moved through the sack, "Is somebody there?!"
"I'm here, Ashley." A man whispered. Despite the weak attempt of trying to disguise his voice, she knew it belonged to her brother.
"Kendrick, this isn't funny. Untie me right now."
He coughed hard. "What, what's going on?"
"You tell me, why are you doing this?"
"Me? I'm the one sitting here with a bag over my head."
Fear spiked and ran down Ashley's spine. "You mean?"
A sinister laugh came from the corner of the room. It was husk and barbaric.
"Who's there?" Kendrick screamed, attempting to hide his fear. "You pussy ass bitch. What kind of man ties up a girl, huh?"
"Kendrick, don't!" Ashley snapped, her body trembled in fear as the warmth of her breath started making her face sweat.
A hand pulled Ashley's hood off and then her brothers. She looked across at Kendrick. His messy blonde hair was even more unruly. The look in his eyes was one she had never seen before but she knew he was terrified.
"Are you alright?" Kendrick asked, a string of saliva leaving his lips and pooling onto his white t-shirt.
Ashley shook her head. Taking two deep breaths, she scanned her surroundings. They were in some sort of makeshift shelter underground. A bomb shelter? Large wood beams held up the dirt above them. A man stood in the corner. He, too, was wearing a hood over his head. Without thinking twice, she decided to scream.
Kendrick joined her as they both screamed for help in unison.
The man's laugh grew louder. "Go ahead. Scream until your hoarse. Nobody can hear you."
They both looked over to the man.
"Who are you?" Ashley asked, "what do you want?"
Well sweetheart, I don't think you need to worry about that." The man said as he walked up behind Kendrick.
Twisting and leaning, Ashley tried to see what he was doing and just as she got a little line of sight, the man lifted a chainsaw, pulled the chord, and revved the loud engine:
Rrrrnnggggnnnnnrrngn!!!!
Once more, they both started screaming. Tears left her brothers eyes as the man maneuvered the chainsaw and revved it right beside his head.
"Please, please, don't do this. I don't want to die, Ashley, I don't want to die." Kendrick sobbed.
The man pulled the chain saw back before revving it once more and holding it overtop Kendricks head. Ashley kept screaming unable to close her eyes. The chainsaw lowered slowly until the teeth made contact with her brothers blonde head. A high pitch cry left his lips. She turned her head away as the feeling of blood and brain matter splashed across her face.
I'm sorry, Kendrick. I'm so sorry!
With everything she had in her she turned back to the nightmare in front of her and screamed as loud and as hard as she possibly could. Kendricks eyes were just empty holes. The saw was jutting out from where his chin would have been as his face fell over onto each shoulder.
As she watched the man maneuver the saw through her brother's lifeless body, she noticed something on the man's arm as his sleeve raised up exposing his skin. A tattoo she knew all too well. The tattooed initials of her name.
"Daddy?!"
